My goodness me it was almost getting a bit X-rated here! I don't know I leave you unattended for a few hours ;)

I have been for a swim today and managed 40 very slow lengths so feeling very pleased with myself.

We then went to the pub for lunch with my dad. I do fall into the thinking it's ok to have a unit with food. I only recently read all of Oster on holiday last week. She could find no evidence for harm to the baby, immediately or long term if it was a unit a day. She also recommends drinking the unit over the course of an hour with food and the highly likely probability is that your liver will have absorbed the majority of the alcohol. To this end I had a half of 3.4% beer with my carvery and very nice it was too. We worked out that up to about 4.5% halves are ok (in terms of keeping it to a unit) and have a little cut out in my purse to consult.

Barcelona is cava country and I did have some on my birthday with my lunch. Baby likes cava. I did also have a small glass of wine every day - again calcualted that a 100ml glass would normally be safely under a unit and always with food. Harder to judge when out. On the rare occasions I drink at home DH measures it out.

TBH I am far less fussed by alcohol than I used to be - would often like a glass with dinner or a gin and tonic on a Friday pre og but baby not's keen so I don't think I even drink every week.

Thanks for breastfeeding link. Went to Oz for a friend's wedding in 2010. Friend I was staying with had a 3 month old and she drank at the wedding and at the post wedding trip to Margaret River which was all about the wine tasting. Her little nipper seemed fine for it then and now.

I am hoping we can but have a steriliser and bottles with the idea of expressing as DH keen to feed and I am keen to be allowed out once in a while. We are also going to get formula in case I don't produce enough. My friend Liz had a screaming baby for the first few days as she wasn't producing enough and only formula supplementing quieten the poor little chap down.

    Raise a glass for me!

Really all a personal choice of course.

Loving the wine chat ladies! I admit I love a drink too although haven't had anything since finding out I was prego! A nice cold Sauvignon blanc for me or a good G&T with lime (no Gordon's!).... Mmmm

We are not finding out the colour when we have our scan but I've been convinced from the start we are having a boy! Hubby only suggests boy names as well, I do keep reminding him it could be a girl..

Oh lilmiss I love Margaret River so peaceful and beautiful there - again I ask myself why am I still in the UK rather than in West Australia with my parents and sister :(.

My friend has only just stopped breast feeding and her lo is just 10 months old however she would have carried on if it weren't for our girlie weekend away next weekend. If I hadn't of fallen pregnant when I did I think I would've waited until after the holiday as it's not often that I drink but I was planning on getting hammered. As it is I'm limited to now serving the drinks to the other girls whilst they're in the hot tub and my massage has turned into a body wrap, facial and manicure :rotfl:. Ah well the main thing is being with the girls and relaxing.

I'm in no ways a big drinker and generally only feel like it after a really really stressful day at work or at one of my girlie nights and that rarely happens as I prefer to drive and stay in control.

Have a had a chat with my Mum today who told me off for not giving her the weekly update that I apparently agreed to :rotfl:. She's happy with all the medical support that's being offered to me and sproglet and asked to make sure I was okay with it as well. As part of the chat she's offered for her and Dad to help out with the car seat which will be one less thing to worry about but she's going to compare UK prices to Oz prices for some reason but it will keep her involved and I know she'll be happy with that. Now we just need to get serious and actually start looking at stuff we need to get and the get bargain hunting.

Had delicious roast dinner and the smallest glass if wine, then fell asleep on the sofa! I mean I fall asleep a lot anyway, but the wine certainly contributed.

    Happy Sunday fellow alkies. :)

In our area wtdn there's 'bambi' classes. The woman I was speaking to at daisy birthing the other night (bambi coach) said she has a glass of wine every night- when I knew what she did it was the first question I asked despite not being a drinker!. Obviously if your intentions are to get rolling drunk every day then it'd be different but this is a handy link when I was worrying about BF, drinking and Christmas- no traditional baileys while making the dinner would be the pits! http://evidencebasedmommy.blogspot.co.uk/2011/09/whats-on-tap-mom.html

Also wtdn when I was talking to M at the Hewitt after freaking out that being a mum would make me somehow lose who I am she made me laugh by regalling me of her favourite new mummy memory- drinking cans of cider in blundellsands park with her nct class whilst BF. She never fails to settle me!

I have referred to baby as 'he' all along, mainly out of history degree habit I think. OH thinks it's a girl, I think boy. At least one of us will be right! :) I would like to have a boy first as I always wanted an older brother and I also dread the buying of pink girly toys, clothes and beauty stuff if it's a girl as I'm really not into that and I am surrounded by 'girly' women who all think I'm weird for not enjoying shopping, make-up etc... Regardless, whatever baby is I know so far he's happy, healthy and doing well in there so that's all I really care about- arguing over pink tutus with my mum can wait! :) all of the things we've bought secondhand so far are animal themed and brightly coloured so it'll do:)

Do bambi classes start before or after birth ?

I have already tried to make it clear to my inlaws that we do not do blue for boys and pink for girls so hoping they are listening! Me and my sis were not brought up like that (and you know what lpool islike for beauty treatments/rollers/tan... Etc etc.) I couldn't cope with all that girliness!

You girls are making me drool with all this alcohol talk. There's a really nice cool bottle ofcider in the fridge, I'm sure if I listen closely enough I can hear it calling, calling my name!

sounds like you're all having fun, and that you'll need me as your designated driver. My usual role I have to admit as I'm allergic to alcofrol therefore can't touch the stuff in any form. Guess i'll be having a baby who's a bit thick as well if it's supposed to help make them more intelligent :( will have to work harder in other ways :)

only another day and a half to survive until our scan.

Haha I don't think there is really a proven link, I think they actually found that people who drank a small amount are more likely to be educated, older and intelligent (like all of us including you ;) ) rather than the link actually being the fact that they had the booze. I think! So you're fine! :p
