Hmmm interesting. I assume I'll go back for mandatory training but my job is split and I have a half day a week where I just do one off assessments which would be a great way of dipping a toe in the water. Of course by the time I do that no doubt that clinic will have been cut :mad:Met DH to be 2010

Littlemiss, in my place we don't get the b/h as pay as we've not worked them. Rather we get them as time in lieu which as we haven't accrued them before mat leave we add on to the end. So in effect with my 10 days a/l taken over and my 8 days b/h time in lieu I'll have 18 days to add to my 12 months (near enough a month. Happy days...
) They are part of your protected holiday entitlement (even if you work bank holidays) https://www.gov.uk/holiday-entitlement-rights so you carry them over as and when accrued...

Made up. There wasn't a single mark on it (until I dropped a drawer on a drawer front and left a dink in it... Gives it character) and it still smells new (like ikea wood....). Also bought my reusable nappies last night in cute bright colours. Am now eyeing up a baby swing then I think we're pretty much done. The only things we'll need to get then are the isofix car seat base, a mattress for cot & basket, baby monitor and little bits like a cheapo room thermometer, mobile, blankets and stuff.
Is it wrong to hope that if we get everything on the cheap then family will just give us cash if they choose to give something to baby?! It sounds really ungrateful but seeing the sheer volume of 'unused/ unwanted, barely used' baby items online makes me think how wasteful it'd be just getting more stuff than we need... Also the thought of a baby shower sends me cold. I can't think of anything worse (ok, maybe having to feign interest in someones holiday pictures that they've put into a powerpoint for your viewing displeasure...) I sound horrible don't I?
:jcongrats on bargain hunting! How exciting to have got just what you want.
No not ungrateful, my grandmother has kindly sponsored out buggy and now that we have one for £5.75 she is insisting on giving us a cheque which means we can buy things when we figure out what we want. People are putting on a thread here about best under £10 baby knick knack if you haven't seen it.
:rotfl:I am not even interested in my own holiday photos. Think you are horrible? I see your horrible and rasie you a cold hearted...Met DH to be 2010

Hi newcomers
My leave will also be taken before I start maternity leave. Im due 16/10 and plan to work until 3/10 if I can. They initially wanted me to finish in August until they realised that they have to find me a job that I can do until I start my maternity and can't make make me finish any earlier than I really want to. Not counting this coming Monday, and the 12 days I have off I June, I still have 13 days to fit in. Yeeha!!!
Also managed to get some shorts on eBay for a decent price, and today I found and tried on my summer frocks before I nipped off to Primark to get more. Told hubby he better get used to seeing them as I will probably live in them during the summer months after our hols! If anyone's looking for any they've got loads of dresses in their normal range that have loads of room in them and should see us through the summer months. No longer ...tobe! We got out cot bed in the end - woohoo. Her messages weren't getting through for some reason. It's in bits but it looks really nice.
My sister told me to get 2 maternity nighties for the birth - a pack of 2 at Mothercare. So if 1 is soiled there's another. Plus, she took Alw@ys night pads rather than maternity pads and high knickers.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120
