Hi pinkteapot sorry you are feeling so overwhelmed with it all. I think the best you can do is take it one step at a time. If you keep worrying about the whole picture it will become overwhelming. I know how you feel to a degree, I have never reacted well to hormone based drugs and the pill caused me to be very depressed in the past so I share some of your apprehension. My OH was also made redundant the same week we got our cycle dates so it's a rollercoaster and a half at the moment. The metformin I'm taking just now is kicking my backside but I'm taking it one day at a time.

The whole thing is an overwhelming process so I hope you don't feel alone in the swimming pool. I'm right there in the next lane treading water too :) hope your OH's test go okay *hug*

Woo hoo Tinkwings hope it is a super sticky bean!

Thanks isla_red. You're absolutely right that I need to focus on each step at a time. It's the level of uncertainty in life at the moment that I struggle with as I'm a control freak!

I'll need to tell DH to keep reminding me it's only for a short time when I'm on the drugs. Based on past experience, when I get down I can't see the woods for the trees at all, and it feels like it's going to last forever. He can help me count down the days.

It's our first consultation on Wednesday so I'm going to tell the consultant my worries about the drugs. I know they have a few different ones and maybe he can choose to some extent based on any likely reaction. When I read the information about the process that they sent us, it listed the reactions people have to low oestrogen levels, and I get all of them every month already!

Good luck with your cycle. xx

tinkwings - huge, huge congratulations and I'm sending every good vibe possible that this is the one for you. x

If I were you I would ask as many questions as you can so you understand fully what you're taking and the timescales. Once you know what the timescales are, organise at least one fun thing for every single week of treatment so maybe lunch with a friend, trip to the cinema, afternoon tea on a groupon deal just something that you can look forward to each week. It's so easy to drop down the rabbit hole but at least you're going into it with your eyes open.

Wishing you lots and lots of luck with your cycle :)

There's stuff in our IVF intro/explanatory paperwork about welfare of the child and how they'll quiz us at our first appointment to make sure we want and can look after a baby. With the way I'm feeling I'm getting scared they'll see it and think we shouldn't have one or something. :(

I just needed to get this off my chest. Does anyone else find the stress of it all this hard?

It's incredibly hard Pinkteapot, I'd say this is probably the toughest thing I've ever done. I think it's natural to feel overwhelmed sometimes and you're definitely not alone.

Felt exactly the same as you at the start, was having CBT for generalised anxiety and intolerance of uncertainty and literally begged them not to write to my GP incase they thought I was a nutcase that should never be tasked with looking after children :rotfl: I worried they'd refuse our referral and all sorts but it's totally fine and not an issue at all so please try not to panic about that aspect (easier said than done). I was sceptical at first but found it helped to chat to their counsellor.

I second what Isla said too, all we can do is take one day at a time and there's lots of lovely ladies here to talk to when you are struggling. xxx
  • Hi all,

Just came back from my scan and things are not looking good.

I have two follies at 24 and 26 mm but all others are still too small and not growing may be 2 in range of 14-16mm

I am feeling so disappointed and very angry with my body right now. I am at work and have to face a bunch of teenage students for 4 hrs.

The hospital will call me in afternoon to see if I should take the trigger shot or continue injections for some more days.

Oh LA, big hugs. I hope the hospital call soon (I hate that waiting around bit) and that you feel a it better once you have a plan in place. How long have you been stimming for?

I'm always angry at my body - it doesn't work and it doesn't even look good.... stupid thing!

chickpea - huge congratulations! I've added you to the 'recent graduates' bit but let me know if you think that's a little bit too much like tempting fate :o xx

Congrats tinkwings! Hope you have a healthy and uneventful 9 months :T xx

Hugs pinkteapot, it's such a cliche but it really is a complete rollercoaster. I was really nervous about everything, the whole process seemed so overwhelming but you do cope with it, I don't know how but somehow you do get through it. I found learning as much as I could about everything and an IVF hypnosis CD really helped. And you probably won't believe me, but nothing is as bad as you're expecting it to be. ;) xx

Just a quick update (I'm supposed to be working...) :D
Will have a proper read later - hugs to everyone xxx

I think my uterus is trying to eat its way out ... but still no flaming AF... grr!! It's clearly on the way, have spotting and it HURTS. Really thought today was the day... even changed the clothes I had out for work as I had a long-sleeved top originally and wouldn't have been able to have a blood test. Now I have no AF, no scan/blood test, and my arms are cold :rotfl:.

I just want to get started *stamps feet*
