  • Hi all,

Joined the TTC thread and they suggested popping over here.

We have been TTC since Dec 2014. Overweight but normal cycles.
We haven't had any tests done now. The drs wouldn't do anything until the two year mark and now we have hit it, kind of too scared in case it is bad news.
  • Hi all

Is anyone still around on this thread?

I have been on the TTC thread for a year. Had a MMC in June last year but failed to become pregnant again. Now I am heading down the fertility treatment route due to being 36 and trying for over a year.

Had bloods done. OH had SA.
Having a laparoscopy in the very near future.

Any stories about others who have had this procedure?
    Did it pick up anything?
    What comes next?
  • Hi Rachy. How are you? I decided to pop over here too. I wonder if we need a new thread? I'm in limbo as there appears to be a bit of a communication breakdown between my GP and FC. My OH has an appointment on Monday at the GP for SA except we think they were ringing to cancel. Grrrr.

  • Hi all,

Rachy sorry to hear about your mmc xx

I had a laparoscopy/hysteroscopy last June... had a five month wait but it revealed that alongside my depleted ovarian reserve, my tubes were twisted and slow. We had our IVF planning meeting 6 weeks later and started the treatment in August!
A friend who had it found it a breeze whereas I was v sore after... take it easy after and lots of rest!
Happy to answer any more questions about the procedure xx

  • Hi EasilyDistracted, I am torn whether I still belong on the other thread. But not sure if anyone else is in this thread actively. Did your OH have his appointment today? Are you being referred for any tests yet?

Thank you so much for responding EllesBelles. I have been extremely lucky to be seen so quickly. I am not sure what to expect from the actual procedure results but at this point I feel like something has to be wrong so hoping that it's an easy fix. Not sure what will happen if they find nothing so was hoping for some other people's stories. I have a week off work following the procedure which was the nurse's recommendation so plenty of time to rest and chill out. It will be a totally different month to what I am used to. My brain never switches off from TTC

How is your IVF journey going? If you don't mind sharing
  • Absolutely it could be a quick fix if they find something.. a friend had scar tissue which they cleared which led to her getting pregnant.
At least a week off I would say! I had 10 days but was still bruised and sore. Lots of tlc!
We were very lucky in that our IVF worked and I am 24 weeks pregnant with twins... however I remember all too well the pain of ttc and am very happy to answer any questions about our journey.

  • Thanks Ellesbelles and massive congratulations :j

I am meeting with my boss tomorrow and so I may have to warn her that I could be off longer. Fingers crossed because work is crap at the minute :rotfl:
  • Congrats Elles Belles and thanks for looking out for us. Rachylou I've hit the point where I'm getting a little bitter about the other thread tbh which is not really realistic or healthy. Hope you're doing ok. Did your OHs work get sorted?

My OHs appointment got cancelled but I went in today to chase FC referral and receptionist was having a long and loud conversation about what appointments they had free. So I nicked one on Thursday for him luckily were both off that day. Were meant to be painting the new loft room but its not actually finished.

FC referral has now gone in to local clinic so fingers crossed. I went to an open day at a private place with good results but it was so depressingly commercial and miserable I don't want to go there. Noone talking to each other and all looking at the floor. :/ plus this woman was loudly greeting everyone by telling them they were special. I don't need to be spoken to like a 5 yo just cos my ovaries are wonky! Not a good experience all round!

OH is not looking forward to producing at the GP and won't let me talk to anyone about it, probably cos I keep teasing him he is literally trying to tell me that's worse than an internal ultrasound. Hmmm I don't think so!! Sounds like you're having a smoother referral route. Have you checked out fertilityfriends?

Hi EasilyDistracted, sorry to have gone awol. I have been away.

Did you and OH get your appointments sorted? Can't believe your OH thinks SA is worse than an internal ultrasound . Ha. My OH produced at home and I took it to hospital for him.

I have been quite shocked at the amount of people asking if we had done that part of the fertility testing and if it was normal (those who know about us TTC). Personally I would rather keep our results to ourselves and only talk about them if I want to, I think asking is quite rude. They were normal by the way, I don't mind opening up on here.

I had my laparoscopy yesterday. It was a llllooooongg day. Very sore and tired and just chilling out at home for the week getting looked after. The nurse told me everything was normal but she was a bit cagey when talking about my right tube so unsure whether there was something she didn't understand/couldn't read in my notes or thought was best waiting for consultant appt. I go back in 4 weeks time.

It was my fertile window at the weekend and we were away for an anniversary and we had to use protection - that was painful and very alien

Hope all is well with you and anyone else that cares to join us here :)
