Good morning
I did post on here last year but I didn't receive a reply.
I posted on the Official TTC thread and was suggested to post on this thread, though as skaps has mentioned appears that it is no longer being used...
We have decided to go down the private treatment route having TTC #1 for 2 years 7 months (docs won't do anything until 3 years have passed and have been labelled unexplained infertility, though I suspect there must be something wrong as we've not had 1 positive) we are currently in the process of choosing a fertility clinic and we are thinking of trying out IUI first then moving onto IVF.
If anyone is kind enough to get back to me on your journey or what would do differently with the knowledge you have now, I shall be very grateful.
Thank you in advance0 -
Hi Lily Rose
Sorry to see you here.. can I ask if you have been given the full range of tests or just blood tests? The reason I ask is that bloods all were fine, it was only when I was scanned they saw I didn't have many eggs (which an AMH blood test backed up) then a laparoscopy showed I had twisty tubes.
Ivf was recommended for us.. have you been recommended iui? My understanding (happy to be corrected) is that they don't see it as any more effective than Dtd.
We were under Oxford fertility and they were amazing!:rotfl:0 -
Hi LilyRose
We are unexplained fertility too and had never been pregnant before IVF. We had all the blood tests and dye tests done too.
We were under the NHS at Barts who also do private care too.
Hoping to go back soon as we have some embryos in storage.MFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different0 -
Annoyingly I typed an essay and I pressed back to delete but it went back a page!! I'll keep this one a little shorter.
Thank you ellesbellesxxx and skaps for getting back to me.
Last year I had day 1 and day 21 blood tests along with HCG and ultrasound - these were "normal".
I went to the GP on Saturday and was given another form for a 21 day and rubella blood test and a chlamydia test - I'll be doing these tomorrow. I'm usually a 26 day cycler but since taking pregnacare for the past 2 months it has increased to 28 days, not sure whether it's a coincidence.
As we aren't legible under the NHS yet we will have to go private and have not had any other tests. We are still choosing the clinic, unfortunately the next open day is next month as all the earlier dates were taken up.
IUI is something we thought was less stressful and intrusive, also I don't want to have to take lots of morning/afternoons off work and provide explanations, I'm also not sure whether the lil spermies are getting into the cervix? Apparently we'll get the best suggestions once we have paid for the initial consultation. Hoping we get a BFP before any of this however I'm not holding my breath!
If you don't mind me asking, ellesbellesxxx were you successful on the first round of IVF? skaps what stage are you currently at?0 -
Hi
How come you're not eligible yet for NHS treatment?
I had 3 rounds of IVF and the first 1 fresh embryo was transferred and was successful but I had a chemical pregnancy. The 2nd 2 frozen embryos were transferred and weren't successful. The 3rd was a fresh embryo as I had no embryos left in storage. This was successful and I had my son last October. We have 4 embryos in storage and will try naturally but I doubt this will work.MFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different0 -
I’ve just started IVF (icsi) this week after two years of TTC.
Before that we had all the tests with no issues and I went on Chlomid for three months which didn’t make a difference for me.
Re: getting ivf on the nhs, it does depend where you live. We get one fresh cycle as we have no previous children or pregnancies and I am under 40.
So far the injections are not fun but hopefully will be worth it in the end.
I hope you are all getting on okay on your journeys?0 -
Unfortunately 3 years is what we've been told by the GP and the specialist, I wish we'd lied and said we'd been trying longer so we'd get referred quicker.
Did you ever find out what the "unexplained infertility" were skaps? Congrats on the birth of your son, I assume you will be wanting to try again soon. It's good you have 4 embryos in storage. You never know you may fall naturally.
Sportygirl, do you know why you was put on clomid? From what I understand with icsi, this is due to male infertility? I've read injections aren't great, but like you said I'm sure it would be worth it.
I think AF is due, TTC is really getting to me and I'm feeling so sad...

Hi LilyRose
Sorry to hear you are having a hard time of it.
It’s crazy that some areas of the UK we are referred and seen quicker than others.
The gynaecologist put me on chlomid for 3 months to see if it did anything. It didn’t do anything for me as my cycles were regular and I was ovulating. I believe it’s usually for women who are not regularly ovulating.
It is hard every month getting your period and seeing lots of women announcing pregnancies.
Do let me know how you get on finding a clinic etc...0 -
Hi Lily rose, gosh each trust is so different in their criteria
mine would have been three year wait if unexplained but lap and dye showed it would be almost impossible to conceive naturally.
Of course I don't mind you asking.. ask anything! Yes first go x
Sporty girl how are you getting on?
