    Hello again. :)

Started DR by sniffing yesterday. Utterly anti-climactic after all the build-up. The spray is so quick and easy - glad I went for that rather than injections!

Enjoying the side-effect-free phase - I'm sure it'll kick in at some point.

What was the nausea thread about? I'm so curious!!

PM - I'm so, so sorry for what you're going through. No-one deserves it. Just keep getting through it day-by-day, hour-by-hour if need be. xx

Hey pink :) It must feel good to have started, does the sniffy thing hurt at all? Is it just one big sniff or lots of little ones.

I have good news, we have been phoning the clinic daily to see if we can get moved forward and we got one, I got next Tuesday :):) This basically moves us ahead a month. Typical me though I'm slightly annoyed as now I wont be able to lose as much weight in time...

    *hugs for PM*

    Sniffy thing is FAB!

Have you ever used Vicks First Defence? It's the same, except it doesn't sting and make you scrunch your face up. :)

If you haven't, it's a little bottle that looks like this:
    https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=synarel&rlz=1C1EODB_enGB522GB522&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=gyzSU4SlFIWV7AabuIG4AQ&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1920&bih=995

You put the nozzle up your nose, hold the other nostril closed, and push the bottom of the bottle up to spray it. Then tilt your head back for a few seconds so it gets into the back of your nose and you're done.

It feels like a light mist. I read a comment from someone who said they hate getting water up their nose so wouldn't like it. I hate that too, and it's in no way similar!

A few mins after spraying you get a slightly funny taste in your mouth (from it going down your throat), but a slurp of tea gets rid of that. I'd read comments online saying the taste was awful but it's really faint for me. I'd read a tip saying to suck a mint after sniffing to get rid of the taste, and that certainly works. I barely need to do this but any excuse to munch a Foxes Glacier Mint. :D

Completely painless for me and only takes seconds.

For DR I have to do two sniffs (one per nostrial) morning and evening (so twice a day). That's the only downside compared to jabs - jabs are one-a-day.

Once the dose halves during stimming, I'll still have to sniff twice a day but only one nostril each time.

I'm going out next Friday night and popping to the loo to sniff seems a lot easier than going in there to draw up and administer an injection.

I might be lucky - some people online do complain of it irritating their nose (which is listed as possible side-effect).

I bruise like a peach when getting injections so sniffing seems much, much more pleasant to me. My consultant said both methods are equally effective.

No DR side-effects yet (headaches, tiredness etc). I'm not sure if people who have tried both jabs and sniffing find any difference in the side effects. I wouldn't have thought so as it's the same type of drug, just administered in a different way, but you could ask the dr's.

Just one thought - if you're self-funding (I can't remember?) I don't know if sniffy drugs are more expensive than injections...

p.s. If you want to see what sniffing is like in general, you could get some Vicks First Defence or a sinus nasal spray from Boots. :) As I said though, I find that Vicks stings and the Synarel doesn't. I was expecting it to be worse than Vicks!
  • Apologies for the mammoth catch up and not updating the lists - MIL has a surprise 70th birthday party this Sunday which we've spent the last 6 months organising so the last few weeks have been a bit  Be glad on Monday when it's all over really :o

First of all, I'm so so sorry PM, I can't imagine what you must be going through, it really must be absolute hell. I know a virtual hug is not really much help but if I could, I'd give you a real one a thousand times over xxx

Fairydust - thanks for the info about the scratch, I haven't got a date for mine yet but I'll let you know how it goes!

Tea - I hope you and DH can sort things out one way or another, thinking of you xx

    Belated happy birthday pickle! :)

Congrats to carrot and danielly! :T Fingers crossed for a happy healthy uneventful 9 months. xx

pinkteapot - I loved the sniffy spray! I had to do 8 sniffs a day (2 sniffs 4 times a day) but it was still so much easier than yet more injections :)

AFM - just plodding along, think AF *may* turn up next week and if it does I'll be ringing the clinic to book in for my endo scratch and FET. Judging by the timeline they've given me though, the actual transfer will end up being end of Sept/beginning of Oct - I work at a uni so that's right in the middle of the busiest fortnight of the year! Oh well, my life comes first before work :p

Apologies to anyone I've missed and hugs to anyone who needs them xxx I promise I'll be back online a bit after the party's over and done with on Sunday! :D

A lot of beautiful babies and children crossing my path in various ways today. Feeling a bit sorry for myself knowing that will never be me :( my cat is asleep on my lap though so at least I'm getting a cuddle.

Know exactly how you feel. My facebook feed is full of scan photos (including creepy 4D ones), stupid pregnancy update statuses and photos of newborns. It feels like everyone else in the world is pregnant but me. Also the dog has taken himself off to his bed and isn't even giving me cuddles.
