Haha, well at least you know the texting works when you really need it! Even if he does get too excited to continue (know exactly what you mean)...

It's so hard - I can understand his relaxed attitude in "most people conceive in their first year", that's how OH and I were when we first started last December, then caught straight away. But now, we're several cycles in and I'm OPK'ing. I'm very much with you, I don't want it within the next year, I want it now - so my logic is use the OPK's so you stand a better chance! I know some people say it means you stress more, but for me it means I fret less knowing that I haven't ovulated yet and haven't missed it.

It seems to me that this is part of the problem with having it drummed into you when you're younger that if you have sex, you *will* getting pregnant... It makes people so blase later on in life that you only need to DTD a couple of times a month, whenever, and DING! When in reality, it's anything but...

Stay positive though, lulu - don't lose faith. When I caught last December, I had vague knowledge of my cycles and was convinced we had DTD far too late... apparently we hadn't!

It feels so good to have people who understand it! I know I moan a lot on here but I don't have anyone else to talk to, I can't even use the phrase CM without OH wincing, he's only just started saying "period" without making a face (and he's 30!)

I don't think I'll use OPKs because the majority of the issue is trying to get him to DTD - there's always an excuse. Plus he's doubting that I'm ovulating because "your new cycle only started 11 days ago so it's too early" when he forgets that my last period was 2 days shorter! I want him to realise we're trying not NTNP.

Oh I don't know, tempted to call it quits for the year but what's the point now I'm off the pill.

Awh the picture is blocked at work! :(

  • Eeeeeeek, congrats White-as-Snow!!! No squinting required with that one! :D

So sorry to hear your news devildolly, I can't imagine what you're going through. Look after yourself.

AFM - 8dpo and feeling decidedly odd. I mentioned yesterday about being out of breath, well it happened again today and I realised it's an immediate reaction to my morning cup of coffee. I only have one cup a day now, but used to be a total coffee addict so it never affects me normally. Holding out to test as AF is due in 2/3 days anyway - we'll see!

It makes a big difference to be able to talk to people who are in similar situations and understand exactly what you are feeling, doesn't it?? OH will come round to the vocab soon enough - my OH was a bit like that at first, but has now started looking at my Ovia app so he knows when I'm ovulating... Lovely he's interested, but slightly urm... odd?!

Hmmm, I see what you mean - OPK's may not help if the issue is getting OH to DTD, and it sounds like you're pretty tuned in with your body regardless. Maybe have the rest of this year with the pressure off, if you do DTD in the fertile window, then great, but if not - not to worry. Then you'll have had two? three? cycles off BC and then you can start being a bit more focused in the new year? That way you can say you've a) allowed your body to re-find it's natural rhythms, b) you've tried to allow things to "happen" naturally as OH thinks they will do so. Then he can't say you've not tried by his ideas, so come new year, you can go by yours instead! Does that make sense?
