What is the imitation borax called and where in the store can it be found? DW is keen to make her own after I told her about BitterandTwisted's home recipe.0

It's just called Borax Substitute. I bought mine in a local hardware shop. Cost about £2 for 500g.

I dont bother with Borax in my Laundry Gloop. I know you can add Bicarbonate of Soda but i dont use that either and my clothes come out clean.
I only use proper Washing detergent when i am washing whites.0 -
It is possible to buy the "proper" Borax on-line - there's a company in Devon that makes it (along with Bicarb of Soda). A quick google search will bring them up (they're also on ebay).
Good prices and quick delivery.

I managed to get some borax substitute at robert dyas for £1.69 I think, last night i made up a huge batch of gloop, i did underestimate the amount of empty containers I needed to store it in though and this morning came down to a half bucket full that has set like jelly, not sure where to put it all now
Have done a few washes and it seems fine, although does not really smell of much, I have ordered some lemon oil from ebay (£1.49 delivered) so when that arrives I shall try a drop or two of that in the drawer, thanks for all the replies everyone.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Can i ask what laundry gloop is?0
-
Its a homemade laundry detergent. I saw a post a few days ago about how to make it, I'm not sure how to do a link so try putting "laundry gloop" into the search bar at the top of this page, hope that helps.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
