Police man phoned my daughter today to say he is satisfied that there is no case against her as the insurance company confirm that they would have provided cover no matter what type of incident she had been involved in on the date in question. He says we should get some written confirmation in about two weeks. I will relax once that letter is in my hands! This whole incident has destroyed my faith in the policing system in this country. We have been stonewalled, refused information, and been made to feel like the lowest of the low. I find it staggering that you can not even ring to see how the process works without someone being obstructive and rude. The lack of information given by the police is dreadful. I certainly don't believe that we have been treated as innocent until proven guilty - very much the reverse.
Still it's hopefully a very good result from what could have been a disastrous situation and my daughter has definitely learned not to be so rash!

It's not a few bad eggs ruining it for the majority of upstanding officer, most of them are awful human beings. The police forces seem to attract a particular type of person. In your case they probably realised the mistake early on but dragged it out to make it look like there was some kind of investigation and case to be looked at, avoiding some of the embarrassment.

Letter from go girl yesterday to say they will pay full costs to close the matter. Just shows doesn't it, if we hadn't of bothered to fight my daughter would have lost her car her licence and her job. Chuffed.com!

I know, this would be of little use now that everything is settled, but seeing how you were given the run around by all parties.. I'd write letters of complaint to both the police and insurance company explaining the stress that both you and your daughter were subjected to by the inefficiency of others.

The customer service on all fronts was extremely poor.

I know someone whose kid brother was beaten up on his way home from school by two grown men who he had never seen before. It turned out to be a case of mistaken identity for some stupid chav on chav feud in a neighbouring town that had got to older brother retribution stage.

Considering two grown men had got out of a car in broad daylight, beaten a 15 year old boy onto the ground in front of two school girls, for no reason whatsoever, and then driven away, you'd think the police might have been quite interested in arresting them.

To cut a long story short nothing happened at all, despite the lad's dad ringing constantly. In the end the copper who was assigned to it, who was always either never there or on holiday according to his colleagues, said they had dropped the case because the two men both worked in the same garage and if their boss had found out he would have fired them, and he didn't want them to lose their jobs.

So you did quite well to get them to take any action at all.

Good (if expected) result, how much are they paying for stress & inconvenience?
