Flexplus Is it an offline card

My Visa Debit from N&P works at pay at pump and trains.
It is mostly definitely an on-line card.
It has been said before that the RBS/Natwest online card is a special case in not working at offline terminals. You could argue it's bad customer service that they do this to their customers but that's a whole other matter.
Some filling stations now do online authorisation.0 -

That doesn't seem like a offline card, I think you are best checking it up with them0

It's unlikely most of Nationwide's customer service representatives will have any idea what the difference is between an online/offline card, or even that there are two types of cards.0 -
Nationwide FlexPlus cards are capable of completing offline transactions (i.e. Pay@Pump, trains, aeroplanes, etc) as they are for full current account customers.
Cash card accounts are typically provided with cards only capable of completing online (live) transactions.
Contactless transactions are all offline as well. So you will not see these process from your balance until overnight when the merchant cashes up their terminal.
EDIT -
People don't seem to know the terminology either; 'online' and 'offline' are types of transactions, not a card type.0 -

It seems you don't know the facts about Contactless either. My Barclays Contactless Debit Card is online, and will decline if it cannot connect to the bank. All transactions are processed immediately and the amount removed from my available balance.0 -

It'll happen on 99% of transactions. Cards only generally go offline these days if the card machine can't contact the bank at all (I.e. Plane, train or internet/phone connection not working at retailer). Stop worrying, the cash card is the only nationwide card that is online. Theres not much else any of us can say.
