While Contactless saves a few seconds, I like the ease of it. It's also great for travelling on London transport as no need for an Oyster card. In a few months, no cash on buses, just Oyster and Contactless.

Typical blooming southerner! - what about the other 90% of the population.... there is life north of the M25 you know - some of it intelligent too! :)

I don't really buy things with my debit card (Use rewards credit cards) but it being contactless or not is a factor now. I'm in Norwich and the majority of terminals are now contactless (Sainsburys has even finally turned contactless on, it had the terminals for ages). It would definitely be something I'd miss if my main card didn't have it.

I guess they assume that eventually most people will have a contactless card or will just get an Oyster card. Its no different in places like New York where you can't pay cash, you need a metro card (Or contactless card for some of the stations).

I'm sceptical of both contactless cards and TfL's foolhardy plan to remove the cash fares on London buses

How come? Contactless cards are secure, and the chance of fraud happening is minimal.

As for London buses, I think it's a great idea. No longer will buses need to wait as 10 people ask how much a fare is, and then pay in 20p pieces.

    :)

Rubbish. Contact less cards means that a pickpocket can easily buy £20 of goods per contact less card they steal making it even easier for opportunistic criminals.

That's a fallacy too, as it'll mean people arguing with the driver and/or completing a UFN

Mmm...because there are so many criminals that want to steal your card to buy their lunch...

In reality there are several fallback flaws in the chip and pin system that could let a criminal easily spend more than £20 without any technical know how.
