Flexplus Is it an offline card

Before you get bogged down in useless London chatter.
Nationwide tend to only issue online cards on their basic account.
The easy way to tell, is to use both in the same places for a small transaction say £5. The offline card will usually tell you to remove it straight away but the online will take a few seconds to contact the issuer.greenorange wrote: »One received a card with 4751 45 and the ether is 4751 44...
Am not sure if there is any difference to the cards. Maybe Nationwide are doing online/offline cards? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Tried this tonight. My 4500 45 Nationwide card took longer, authorized with the bank and the money was taken from my available balance immediately. My Contactless NatWest debit card approved straight away and isn't showing as being taken from my available balance.0 -

To clear something up. Was the transaction actually contactless on the Natwest as most contactless transactions are offline?
This is inconclusive though really. As chip cards randomly decide to go online anyway and most places generally always contact the bank for chip transactions even if it is a small value purchase.0 -

So did you make a contactless payment with your Natwest card then?
If that' the case then your point is null and void. You need to do the same type of transaction on both cards.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
My flexplus card is 4751 4500 so do we think this is offline or online0

I'm reading from that that the (NatWest) card was contactless rather than the contactless function being used.
I used to find with Nationwide that only about two thirds of the time did the transaction show on my available balance the same day. On an online debit card, all would obviously show.
My first offline Nationwide card was their 2 in 1 ATM and £50 cheque card many moons ago

I finally had a chance to try this again today using chip and pin.
My NatWest card approved straight away, Nationwide connected to the bank.
Both for a small amount (coffee).
Likewise, my Nationwide card worked on the train this morning, so I actually have no idea whether it's an online/offline card.
Maybe it's an offline card that always connects to the bank if it has the chance?0 -
I think that might be the case I need to try it at asda pay at pump because I know if it works there it's offline have you ever tried yours there greenorange?0

Ok so I sent nationwide a secure message asking if the card can be used at pay at pump on trains and planes and they came back today and said yes we can confirm your card will work in all those places so I guess it is offline and online0
