    Good grief!

To think that you walk amongst us looking normal.

I read this thread because the title intrigued me. I didn't realise that people expended so much time and energy on the stuff you do, life must be very complicated and draining for some of you. All the odd or even number on the volume stuff. Egad!

It does explain some things though. When I made the girlfriend a coffee the other day she asked if I was really going to use the cups that I got out of the cupboard rather than the other ones that were in there.

They were at the front and don't leak, which as far as I'm concerned is all cup needs to be. It never occurred to me that they might be the 'wrong' cups.

Some cups affect the experience of drinking a beverage.

Depending on what a cup is made of determines how long it stays hot, as the taste can be affected by how much staining is in there. And then sometimes a cup is too big to drink all the contents and you end up leaving half mugs of cold tea and coffee around the place.

I like tea is a small denby mug as it just seems to keep it at the right temperature for the entire time I'm drinking it and there's not so much fluid that I feel bloated after. Oh and coffee should have the milk in first so it doesn't scald the grounds and make the coffee taste funny.

I should add that nothing else bothers me at all. Just the way tea and coffee is prepared and presented to me.

Obviously in other people's i suffer whatever sh*te they put in front of me in silence and a smile. I've only tipped one cup away surreptitiously before, and that was someone who made me a cup of tea in the microwave, didn't get the water hot enough and added coffee creamer instead of milk.

You'd have had to put a gun to my head to make me drink that and even then I'd think about before definitely committing to doing so.

Oh yes! :) Such a thing does exist! I have my mugs and my husband always seems to make my coffee in one of what I call the 'posher' mugs what I'd give to guests....I don't like them as much because they're larger and a strange shape and the drink seems to go cold quicker in them and they are not as comfortable to hold.

I like my cheapy character mugs....Mr Grumpy and We Will Rock You mugs (for morning cups of coffee, I make two at once) and my Studio 54 mug for after tea cup of coffee.

Coffee should have the milk put in LAST IMO.

*After reading the above, I can see why you're scared that we walk amongst you! :rotfl:
  • Oh yes you can have the wrong mugs. Handles need to be large enough to be able to carry properly, and made if thick stuff (no bone China here, I'm so uncouth)

Potatoes - roast, new etc - have to be cut at least in half before I start eating the meal

I will dismiss any number of 'wrong' car parking spaces before I find the 'right' one. I know I'm not alone in this.

Hate it when people say PIN number...

Tea must be drank from a bone china mug.

Biscuits can only be eaten in pairs.

    Jeez... where to begin.

I like things in alphabetical order. I have to have/do things in twos. If eating sweets, I'll eat them in pairs. Also, if coloured sweets like jelly babies, I'll eat two of each colour, then all the odd ones at the end.

If I step on a drain, it has to be with two feet. If I step on a yellow/double line, it has to be with each foot. I like my steps to 'match'. If I tread on one yellow line one side of the road and can't do it with both feet, I'll use the other foot to tread on one on the other side of the road.

I like even numbers of toilet paper! I've managed to ignore that one as it was getting ridiculous (especially at work where we sometimes have one normal sized bit and one that's a double length - does that count as one or two(?!) so now make sure the last one I tear off is an even number.

I'm very funny about touching leftover food or bins. Yuck.

I am a nightmare about things being clean and often pick up cutlery, mugs or china going 'ewww this is dirty!'. I drive my BF nuts (even though he says I never annoy him lol).

Actually, tonnes more - wrote most of them on this thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=53029687&postcount=21

I have a few more now - I dread to think what I'll be like in another 10 years' time lol. I scratch 5 little lines into my escalator handrail at work now too - and think it's gonna be a good day if I see a previous one! I also like to walk between the trees leading up to my building.

Sitting here now clicking on my mouse (until it highlights the paragraph I'm looking at)... I must drive the girl who sits opposite me crazy. It would annoy the hell out of me, but I don't even know I do it. It's an impossible habit to break, especially as my hand's on the mouse all day.

  • Having read all the posts, I'm inclined to think that I'm so normal that I'm weird. Actually I do have an annoying habit of doing the exact opposite of the way my wife has insisted something must be done.

ie washing up. I pile it all up in the sink and start at the bottom.

Also eat left handed, and can't bear any creases on the bottom sheet. BF sleeps like he's a Tazmanian devil so often sleeps in the room next door. I smooth the sheet out and re-tuck it in every night.

Obviously cutlery has to be in the right sections and the right way up :)

Windscreen wipers also have to be stopped in the down position.

I stroke my hair when I yawn.

Lids have to go on. Hate it when BF bins them by mistake. Freak ;)

Also like a heavy blanket on me. Now have duvet, throw and heavy dressing gown (which I don't wear at all, I just like over me).

Bit funny with sleeves too and rarely wear them. Get moaned at for having the heating on all the time and often hear 'go get a jumper on!' but I really don't like it.

Footwear is always put on with the left foot first.

I don't like things hanging off tables. I'll always push them so they're fully on.

Loo roll always on so you pull it from over the top, not from underneath.

I match coloured floor tiles with my feet too - if I tread on a different colour one, it has to be with both feet. That Venetian Hotel one Georgiegirl posted would send me crazy.

My hangers' hooks are all the same way round on the rail, and the clothes have to go on the right way on the hanger if they have a sticker or whatever on them.

I'll stop now. Weirdly, not many people know about mine, I hide them well :D

  • I'm with Mr Toad. The only thing in my house that has to be "right" is that my cheerleading uniform, practise wear and bows hang on the outside of my walk-in wardrobe, as it reminds me to keep up my conditioning regime.

I do get a bit annoyed when OH hangs the washing on the line as he hangs t-shirts by the shoulders, but that's because it pulls them out of shape.

Couldn't care what mugs and glasses get used, couldn't care which way round the loo roll is, don't care if the house is a bit messy as long as it's clean :)

Dear god i do feel quite normal reading this, but I do have a few myself.

I do the change on the bus thing - i have to have it ready in my pocket.

If i eat potatoes i always cut them in half before i start eating.

I like colour coded writing - if its important/bad news it has to be red, if its good it has to be green, if it could go bad it has to be amber etc. i couldnt have bad news in green for example.

Blackboard/white board noises/marker pens/squash court squeaking/flip flops scraping go through me and make me heave.

I cant bear to touch really dry things they make me shudder - when towels are really dry and stiff for example

I love a pedicure except when she is filing my nails - i want to curl up in a ball as it goes through me

I hate spelling and grammatical errors (see signature). When businesses write on facebook and twitter and make a grammatical error I will message them to point it out.

  • I had no idea there are so many people around who cover up their batsh!t craziness. I don't think I have any strange compulsive behaviours but I have noticed that when dressing I need to put the left sock/shoe on first or it just feels wrong. I often intentionally put the right one on first just to try and train myself out of this before it all gets completely out of hand.
