I Swear Some Buyers Are Dense!

Sorry OP but i feel sorry for the poor man...we all ask stupid questions when we shop.
I always ask the price because sometimes the tags are wrong.
I trust you don't include yourself in that, and you might be surprised that some people would find it a bit rude that you think that of them. Most of the time, most of the people manage to engage brain before opening mouth. The OP is quite right IMO to try to 'educate' the lazy-thinking customer. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
i just sold an eshisha set on ebay and messaged the buyer "would you like strawberry or tobacco flavoured eliquid?" (as stated in bold letters in the listing)
i just got their reply "apple or vanilla please".0 -

Of course i include myself in that i would be 'stupid' not to...and i'm sure the majority of people would agree they have asked stupid or silly questions throughout their lifetime even highly educated and intelligent people have their moments. Only a 'stupid' person could think they have never had a stupid moment.
Strange though that you think it's the owner of a second hand shops job to educate anyone in anything (no offence OP, i think it's great), she's is there to provide a customer with a service ie: sell them clothes and not decide if they need educating or not...
Even stranger you think what i wrote was rude...but what the OP said to a customer who was looking at spending money in their shop is perfectly exceptable...now thats what i call 'stupid'
Good customer service does'nt cost anything...bad customer service could cost you everything.0 -

You would not believe the idiots I have to deal with.
Yesterday a man walks in. Touches a black t-shirt. "Is this a plain black t-shirt, is this the only size, have you got any more?". There were 20 on display, in S, M, L, XL.
After composing myself for a few seconds, I replied "why don't you open your eyes and look before asking me unnecessary questions". Queue laughter from regular customers, and a sheepish look from the idiot, sorry customer.
Or the people that summon me only to ask "how much?" then THEY point at the price and say "£15?". What can I say to that? It says £15. I just turn around and walk away.
If in the future you wonder why few new customers ever come back to your shop, I would re-read this post for your answer.0 -
Then someone actually turned up for it in a small family car and actually tried to force it in, the bed was bigger than the car.
I sold a Portakabin on ebay once and the bloke turned up with a car to collect it."Love you Dave Brooker! x"
"i sent a letter headded sales of god act 1979"0 -

Hahaha this one is cool. I laughed so hard. I can imagine your face while reading his reply0 -

I don 't wish to start an off-topic distraction but I object to being misquoted not once but twice. I'm not going to waste time repeating my previous post but would ask you to read it again more carefully. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -

Can't see where i really quoted you!..and i have read it more than once. If you mean 'stupid' nope they are my quotes.
And by the way stating people make stupid comments does'nt in no way, shape or form mean i think they are stupid.. so can't even see why you think thats rude! (and you object to being mis-quoted!!!!) I object to you not reading my 1st post correctly and starting this pathetic disagreement.
You seem to take offence in my reply but hey i was never going to reply favourbly to you thinking basically all people who say stupid things while shopping are 'lazy thinkers' and need educating, thats just an ignorant comment.
We have a friend who has a brain inury after a bomb exploded 6 ft away from here he was standing while in Iraq, he says some really 'stupid' things while out shopping, someone with brain tumours or brain injuries, mental health sufferers etc...i myself have short term memory loss i forget the names of people and items..i was in asda a few weeks ago and was stood next to my husband and kept telling him 'we need that white stuff in a bottle' eh? 'you know that stuff you put on that stuff you have for breakfast' 'oh milk' 'yep mik'...
Things such as above make some of the things they say stupid not that they are stupid...
And some people without problems just say 'stupid' things without realising as thats human nature.
So for you to turn round and think is perfectly exceptable for someone to be so rude to a customer just because they asked a 'stupid' question which is no doubt it was silly and stupid...and also to suggest this person needed 'educating' because they were a 'lazy thinker' thats rude.....seems to me that the OP of that particular post either needs customer service training or a new career.
Anyway i've finished with this particular topic now...because it should never of been started...it's stupid.0 -

Before you call others idiots, you should learn the difference between a 'queue' (of people) and a 'cue' (a prompt for an occurrence such as laughter)...
On the topic of colour, I'm no expert, but could colour-blindness explain away the query?
On the £15 query, is it so difficult to merely repeat "£15", deadpan, to the customer?0 -
Had another idiot contact me re the hi-fi, this one again asking 'Could I post it?' I replied through the questioning process on eBay 'No, it's COLLECTION ONLY as stated in the listing' his reponse was 'Yeah I saw that but I thought you might pull your finger out your a$$ and post it to me'
Yes he was reported to eBay for violation of rules!0
