Just paid photographers deposit, so that's another thing off my list. Also rang a florist nearer to the hotel as my current one refused to deliver and as 3 of the arrangements are large it was going to be difficult!

    You're making excellent progress KL!

@Tillyenna - thank you! Yes, that was another reason we wanted to make it a surprise. Surprises are fab! I heard about a couple who kept their wedding a secret from everyone and pretended it was a birthday party. I think my friends and family might get a tad suspicious if we invited them to a chapel in the mid-afternoon on neither of our birthdays...

I'm off dress shopping today, first time I'll have ever tried on a wedding dress. My mum passed away when I was 18 and so I was just going to go on my own, which I was fine with and everyone was saying "oh you shouldn't be alone" etc which made me feel abit defensive and defiant! My neighbour who treats me like her own offered to take me and drop me off but last night she asked if she should come in to give me a second opinion! I think it's nice that she's offered and can see why she offered but I feel a little like people pity me and I really dislike that. But anyway, so, I'm going dress shopping today. Woohoo! x

    Hi Everyone!

We are getting married on Oct 10th!

I'm feeling really behind after reading your posts! We have the Town Hall booked for the ceremony and have an appointment in March to give notice. I've reserved the reception venue but need to send the deposit this week. I sent out the save the dates a few weeks ago but apart from that I have nothing sorted! Feeling a bit daunted to be honest, don't know where to start!! :(

    Hi jovie,

My only advice is pay your deposits for your main things now, like photography, venue, florist, dress. The rest can be done abit at a time like invitations and favours x

Thanks! I will get my venue deposit paid this week. Meeting a photographer next weekend so hopefully that will be sorted. My mum and sister want to come dress shopping with me so I need to find a weekend they can come over (I live in Yorkshire, they live in Wales!). Florist I should get started on... i'll be on Google :-p

    We're October 2014 too :-) Getting there I think, we've booked:
    church
    venue
    photographer
    videographer
florist (not decided on actual flowers yet)
Went ring shopping today!! Not 100% decided but the jeweller is getting some samples in for us to try
Tomorrow is bridesmaid dress shopping - just having one bridesmaid so once she is happy :-)
My OH is wearing his kilt, as are the 2 ushers, my dad & the best man are in suits - in my head it's sorted!
And I've got my dress :-D
We're getting there slowly :-) looking forward to hearing how everyone is getting on!

I love the idea of a surprise wedding!! We have a lot of family travelling so we decided to give out save the dates & hopefully give people enough notice!

I accidently found my wedding dress, just nipped into a shop with my mum for a first look & found it :-) then a few days later I got a call to say it was going in the sample sale & half price! Perfect! My parents have paid for it for me which was lovely.

I dont think it's cheeky to ask about a sample sale, what I would do though is once you've found your dress shop around to get the best price - every shop seems to be different!!

    Good luck xxx

I have found THE dress. It's beautiful. The shop wrote down the code they use to identify it, but not the designer or type so Im struggling to locate it cheaper elsewhere and in the shop it's £1249 before alterations!!!
