Yes that's right, you have to initiate the switch within 14 days of opening the account.0

Check the Nationwide terms - I believe you are only eligible for 5% interest if you haven't had a FlexDirect in the past 12 months.

Hi Moneyinthebank,
Be careful with your FlexDirect - I emailed Nationwide to find out when my 12 months was coming to an end and I also asked them if I'd be able to open a new FlexDirect when this one reached its 12 month birthday and they said I could not and only new FlexDirect customers would benefit from the enhanced rate of interest.
I'm in the same position as you with a few months left to run, so will leave it to run its course and switch my spare Halifax account instead.
On a separate note and sorry to go off topic, but reading some of the above messages in this thread, can you open 3 Bank of Scotland VANTAGE accounts if you already have 3 Lloyds Vantage accounts - to take account of the 3% interest.
Many thx.0 -

Sorry if I am being thick, but can the two standing orders be paid to other bank accounts in my name? Thanks0

A question for anyone who's already called up to start the switching process:
Are any questions asked about switching wages/salary to be paid into the new co-op account?
Are there any awkward questions (my position is I have dormant /sacrificial current account I plan to use...I'd like to keep wages etc going to m "existing" current account)
I know in the application they ask for employer details, so am wondering if there is any option not to pay wages in, but to agree to make a regular £800 payment non the less???0 -
"regular payment of £800"
was planning to make just 1 x £800 and pull the £900 out. Any problems with this ??0 -

On a secondary point, you may need to make more than one £800 deposit, depending on when, in the month, you open the account, being as the £100 may be paid up to 45 days after the switch date.0 -
yes, it is not clear whether they will accept a one off £800, or want to see regualr payments of £800 (+), having gone into the existing donor account....0
