I use them to clean it on a hot wash so they won't damage it but not sure how clean your dishes will be0

Hi Old Stylers,
I am just looking for advice on using your dishwasher the 'Old style way' i.e. cheap tablets, eco friendly balls etc.
Of course I know that not using it at all would be the real Old Style way but I own it so may as well use it if I have lots of dishes to wash, but I would like to keep it cost effective so any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Funnily enough, i have been thinking about this recently
I usually use it on normal cycle which is 60degrees...
I have run it on a rinse cycle which is a cold cycle, then run it on a quick wash which is only 45 degrees and takes a LOT less time therefore saving on heating water and length running...
Not sure how much water it saves, but a DW uses less water than washing up anyway, and as I am not metered (phewwwwww) cost of amount of water used isn't a factor to me.
I wouldn't do it on say a roast dinner wash, but for everyday stuff its fine, and money saving0 -
I I have run out of tablets/powder etc I find it quite often washes perfectly well with no powder at all. I do keep the salt topped up though as we have very hard water.Jan 2011 GC £300/£150.79 (2 adults, 2 teens, working dog, includes food/cleaning/toiletries)0

I hate tablets because you can't decide how much to use. I buy the liquid and put in about a teaspoonful per wash.0

Please why does anyone need a dishwasher unless they are into catering? I have never understood it!0
