Dishwasher tips and questions

Tip One
If you live in a soft water area you probably don't need salt and rinse aid
Tip Two
Make sure you're busy as the it comes to the end of the cycle so you can call "Can someone just unload the dishwasher while I'm sorting out dinner/getting the washing in/feeding the cat?". Timesaving rather than moneysaving.0 -
To clean your dishwasher, simply run it on the hottest, longest program - but empty. Nothing needs to be added. Just make sure it's empty firstWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0

My parental units do that - don't want milko to think them scruffs or whatever.:o . I've enough to fill mine without milk bottles, and the fact I don't get bottles relieves me of the need to do that.;)
I put most of my hob bits and bobs in, but have never worked out if the oven door glass comes out - will have to investamigate that one
Following on from the foot bath thread, do you think if I put Mr TM's feet in there, it would solve his foot odour problem? Must be the time of year for the 'pongs' to resurface. I'll think about it and let you know.....0 -
I just love the fact that you can dye all your tupperware a fetching mid orange shade by putting it in with the pan you made the chilli in....... kids don't quite see it that way but I'm trying to set a tupperware trend here!!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0

 Pooky have you been rummaging through my cupboards again? Not only tuperware I have plastic chopping boards, spoons and beakers all the same colour as Judith Charmers:eek:Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
Yeah, why does that happen
I haven't had a dishwasher that long, all my chopping boards are now orange and I don't put the pans in there! I thought it was something I was doing, I feel much better now

Sorry MATH - you cupbards just looked like they needed a rumage - far to organised for my liking!
I'm thinking that maybe dishwasher tablet makers add orange dye to a few tablets per box just to get people standing there scratching their heads in wonder... (if any of those dishwasher people are reading this...can we have some better colours next time - the orange is getting boring! )"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Another DW phenomenon is stucco effect mugs and plates after a cycle containing anything that has been within sniffing distance of mashed potato. No matter how much you rinse beforehand everything comes out 'texturized':mad:Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

So, to get back on topic again, has anyone found a way to guard against discolouration? It certainly doesn't look as though my things will ever recover - so prevention... if it's possible?Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
