I've just done a comparison and First Utility fixed until May 2015 and OVO 12mth fix are both £90 more for me - not sure which one to go with.0 -
My transfer seems to have gone through even though the estimated date was 2nd April, EDF site says account closed. OVO site says on tracker line to enter meter readings by clicking enter meter readings button, that button isn't showing yet.
For those who have switched, when did the enter meter reading button appear?0 -
Ovo confirmed receipt of switch application in one working day: so far so good: awaiting welcome pack.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Ahh right I thought switches only took 3 weeks...
Switching supplier usually takes a minimum of 3 weeks, and an absolute maximum of 5 weeks (according to Ofgem) from the date the new supplier receives an application.
If people are using the MSE Cheap Energy Club, then they can add about a week to those timings as it appears to take about a week for the CEC to send the application to the supplier0 -

increase in costs pa for me over current EDF April 2014 fix:-
ExtraEnergy +£100
OVO 12 mnth fix + £115(~ £80 with cashback)-gone with this
SP fix til June 2015 +£170
EDF fix til June 2015 +£240
OVO fix til June 2016 +£270
EDF fix til 2017 +£405:eek:
Thanks brewerdave. :money:
Seeing how the alternatives work out for others is a great help in getting one’s own figures into perspective. Much appreciated.
EDF certainly isn’t looking competitive with the opposition at the moment.
And Eon seems to have lost the plot entirely (but is no doubt profiting from those of its customers who haven't been switching away).

For those of you switching to OVO at the moment, can I ask whether it's a fixed monthly direct debit payment, like you do with most other companies? Or do you always pay for that month's usage?shineysixpence wrote: »I switched to OVO in January and I have been incredibly impressed. Particularly by their new website. In direct answer to your question, they do bill by fixed monthly direct debit BUT you have outstanding control over that:
* Change it whatever you want
* Request refunds
* Optional sign-up to a scheme where your bills are not estimated monthly but are entirely based on the readings you give, i.e. you are billed from one reading to the next.
You need to be prepared to give regular readings but they email you monthly to remind you and their website is so impressively clear that this is easy.
Finally, even if you accrue credit, they pay you 3% interest on any balance that they hold.
According to the details I read at confused.com it stated about Ovo's fixed until March 2015 tarif:
"To reflect higher energy usage throughout the winter period, direct debits are 25% higher during this time.
Payment by fixed monthly direct debit only. Customers will be required to pay the first months payment in advance"
This, along with the £30 per fuel cancellation fee put me off abit.
Still undecided what to do at the moment.
Is it the Ovo fixed until March 31st 2015 that people on here are switching too from EDF?
Brewerdave: I notice you mentioned cashback of £80 - where is this from, please?0 -
@ih8stress - sorry if my post wasn't clear -its not cashback of £80 -the nett increase will be about £80 after Topcashback £31.50 thru SimplySwitch.0

Im with you lot trying to decide what deal to chose with the edf coming to an end.
Ive had a look on cheap energy club and im a bit confused. this is what i got.
OVO = save £111 a year
SC = 56p
Electicity = 11.4p
Gas = 3.6p
British Gas = save £83 a year
SC = 52p
Electricity = 10.6p
Gas = 3.8p
Out of the two it says OVO saves me more in the year buy there Standing Charge is more and so is there Electicity KWPH !
Im i missing something?0 -
