Current EDF Fix coming to an end

The penalty was my main concern, since I know little about OVO, but if they're a disaster I'll bite the bullet and pay the penalty. I really didn't have a better option considering the cheapest offer was FirstUtility and that was a no-brainer!0
-
The downside is OVO's penalty clause (£30 exit charge per fuel).
The prices quoted on this site have had the discount added so if for any reason you don’t get that discount then the overall cost of the deal is £60 more expensive.
If like nPowers offers of old and is applied after staying with them for a full yesr then the early exit fees could go up to £120 I.e. normal exit fees and loss of discount.0 -
Thanks for all comments. In view of the Which survey i am definitely going to chance First Utility as its by far the cheapest for me.You will always get one or two customers that have had a bad experience.0

They say there is a £30 discount per fuel does anyone know how this is applied?
This is what the Ts&Cs say:How does the Online Account Management Discount work?
The discount is our way of giving you the lowest possible price for your energy. We do everything we can to keep our cost of serving you to an absolute minimum. To get this discount you must use our simple and easy online service (My Ovo), or our Ovo app, to manage your account online (for example, to view your statements, update your personal details or renew your contract). The discount is £30 per fuel per year (calculated as £0.0822/day), and is capped at £60 per year if you have two fuels or more supplied by us.
If you decide at any point that you would like the increased flexibility of managing your account over the phone, we will no longer give you the discount. If money saving starts to involve irritation or frustration the fine line between thrift and greed should be examined.0 -
Yup read that but question still is is how is the discount applied?
Or perhaps the question should be when is the discount applied?
Is it on a rolling basis per bill or given at the end or each year? If yearly, like nPowers used to be, what happens if you leave early?0 -

Looks like it is applied monthly. If money saving starts to involve irritation or frustration the fine line between thrift and greed should be examined.0 -

But it's not 'one or two'. Among the smaller suppliers. the surveys clearly show that FU has by far the worst CS. Their customer base has grown rapidly, and they've simply not ramped up their CS or billing systems to cope with the growth. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I decided to risk i too. I actually changed to EDF fixed until June 2015 yesterday because I did not want to risk First Utility because of the bad reviews, but according to the Which site EDF customer service percentage was worse than First Utility. I never had a problem with EDF so if I had looked at the reviews I would have been put off EDF too. I signed up to First Utility this morning so I will see what happens. I have had emails with my account number and login details so all OK so far.0

According to moneysupermarket.com, First Utility is worse than EDF. My Blue+ price promise comes to an end next month. OVO and First Utility come out the cheapest, so I think OVO is a safer bet!
I just need to find out if OVO charge extra for customers who are supplied by an IGT. Will give them a ring tomorrow - unless anyone here knows if they do?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
