No buying unnecessary toiletries February 2014

  • Another 2 UUs:

Oral B toothpaste, I can't remember what type it was but it was blue with little gritty bits in it. I wasn't too keen on it and I prefer Aquafresh, but I'm trying to use the same toothpaste as DH, as we only have a small bathroom cabinet and it makes space for other things. We are using a different Oral B one now, I think it's called Brilliant White, and it's not as strong which I prefer.

2nd UU is Sure anti-perspirant. Sure is my preferred brand for anti-perspirant and so WDBA. Started on a new compressed version this morning which is tiny and so it fits much better into our little cabinet which is good, I just hope it lasts for a decent amount of time.
Thank you to everyone who posts on here :)

    Some UU's for February:-

Dr Organic Aloe Vera Lip Balm. WDBA (need to check if anything lurking in stash to be used first)

No.7 Blonde eyebrow pencil. WBA good colour for me.

5ml Lancome Genifique MBA, this was a GWP so may be too expensive and would prefer an animal friendly brand.

15ml Sarah Chapman Skinesis Overnight Hand and Nail Treatment. WNBA I did not see any better results than Elemis of L'Occitane hand creams give me.

Avon Glimmerstick for eyes. I do like these, but aiming for more animal friendly products.

    TA's
2 Mascaras - I thought perhaps they were due for replacing.
1 Avon Bronzer - too dark for me now.

I succumbed to the Laura Geller TSV as the colours are definitely ones that suit me. Just as well I don't list make up, so no INs for me! :o:D:p

Thank you sunshineyday for the info on the Liz Earle Hair Oil, I think I'll pick it up once I finish the Serum I'm currently using. Always like to go on a good recommendation! :D

A couple of UU to report:
    1. Body Shop Cranberry Joy Body Butter 50ml - WNBA
    2. Boots Extracts Cranberry Body Butter 50ml - loved this! Defo better than the Body Shop equivalent! WBA

Super exhausted today, I think the busyness of 2014 is catching up. Going to make myself some avocado toast and take a handful of vitamins to try pick myself up!

I have fast growing nails so spent years with people telling me they were false - as a result I only occasionally painted them. DD came along and nails were kept short for obvious reasons but now Ive rediscovered my love of polish with a passion. Im sure with a bit of attention your nails will return to their former glory and in the meantime I always think darker colours look better on 'shorties' than talons.

Strange, I always think the opposite. When my nails are longer I go for the darker colours and when they're short I go for the lighter ones. They're quite short at the moment and a kind of candy pink, which I'm not keen on. I usually get them shellaced but got some '3D sculptured nails' last year on a Groupon offer. They were a nightmare! Looked great to start with but I couldn't pick anything up and they really were like talons. When I wanted to get rid of them it was really difficult to get them off. I think my own nails are just about recovering.

Undecided about what to do with my make up bag full of nail polish, considering the fact that I very rarely wear any and prefer to get shellac done. It seems wasteful to just bin them but pointless to keep them.

If you do decide to let them go, in my area several of the small individual charity shops are happy to take them if part used or do you work in the type of place where you could leave them in the ladies with a note saying help yourself? Although there is no longer any provision in flea bay for "used" cosmetics, lots of people do sell them by adding the information in the listing "large lettering recommended", I have bought quite a few which are no longer offered in the manufactures ranges this way. My reckoning is that there are not likely to be many germs that could survive in nail polish:rotfl:

Speaking of n p must go and paint toe nails, purple is calling me I think:D

I think a lot of them aren't used at all. I don't work at all at the moment, apart from the voluntary work I do. Most of that consists of going from place to place, apart from the Food Bank. They do give toiletries out as an added extra but normally only essentials like shampoo, deodorant and toilet roll. I was thinking of asking my son's girlfriend if she wants them but after years of living with my hoarding I think he is trying to live a more mimimalist lifestyle and wouldn't thank me for passing any of my clutter on.

Thanks maddiemay - do you use the oils to strengthen your nails when you have polish on, does it manage to get to the nail if they are covered?

Well done VALM on not buying the TSV, don't give in later on.

They cost less than £5. They are, for want of a better word, lush:rotfl:

My fave Lush product is snow fairy but instead of them sending me 6 x 500ml bottles at sale time they sent me 30 x 100ml bottles.....yeah, the same volume, but not the point! I emailed to complain, then tweeted them as they ignored me, they ignored that too! I think I've fallen out with them.......but don't think I can enjoy a bath without the comforter lol

    V. Jealous if your Snow Fairy stash! I told everyone not to buy me any this year for Christmas, as I would get it half price on Boxing day. Was there for the store opening at 10am, and they told us all they sold out on Christmas Eve!! My friend did buy me a 250g bottle, and my mum got me a Lush box that came with 100g in it. First year I haven't had a huge stash of it, and honestly I'm not that bothered! I am keeping my wee 100g bottle to use as a treat when I get through some of my other shower gels though!
  • One OUT to report!
    Clearasil Refreshing Superfruit Scrub
Been perceiving with this for weeks, but it seems to turn one side of my face bright red, and really hot. Not sore though, I thought it was maybe because it was just a new product and my skin would adjust to it, like it does most things. I'm not super sensitive or anything, and can use mostly every product out there on my face.
When I do try something new, I try to give it a full week for my skin to get used to it, and for it to work before I want to see results.
But with this, almost 3 weeks later and still red and hot everytime I use it...so BIN with this one!
