  • Well two new tyres this morning, double the cost booo.

Went b&q last night and whilst we were there we looked at the kitchens and bathrooms. Nothing really grabbed my attention. But DD was showing me stuff on pinterest and have been inspired by flooring ideas :)

    Happy New Year everyone
Hope it brings you sunshine, wealth, health and happiness

Wow ND!!! 6 months to go! Soooo inspiring!!! I too remember you having a pretty sizable mortgage not that long ago. It really is amazing to see people who've been here a while and stuck with it paying the beast off! Congratulations in anticipation!

Hi ND, I found it a lot easier to socialise once my son reached the age he could be left alone in the evenings. I started with joining a language class, where I wasn't home too late and made some friends through that. Then I started saying yes to more events at work. I'd always have to limit myself before as it was hard to get babysitters.

  • Thanks guys, its nice to see some of the same people around from when I started this :)

Clarey I know what you mean. I dont know any babysitters and I didnt want to pay for them either, that would add to the cost of the night out and they are not cheap these days. I used to get a £5 for the whole night ;)

    Anyway, daft question alert!

Q1. When I have say only £400 left on my mortgage will they just take the amount that is left on the final payment or still take the full monthly amount unless I tell them?
Q2. If I have more than my std MP and they take that and I have say £200 left and I OP it will I be charged for finishing my mortgage early?
Q3. My mortgage statement shows I have a year left. If I finish in May (early) will I be charged for finishing earlier than their date?

Told you they were stupid questions!

  • I used to look at peoples SOA and see how much they put for entertainment/leisure and think what on earth?? How can they justify spending that much on going out, its a waste.
But this year I want to be more social, its all about living life and not wasting it away stuck behind a laptop but already i am fretting about how much more money I will be spending. One of the reasons my mortgage will be gone this year is because I am a hermit :o

I need to add to my ss a column for leisure. My kids one is £54 a month for their clubs and things so I should treat myself too!

I imagine they would just take the necessary amount. However this may be different to your normal mortgage payment.

There may be fees associated with ending the mortgage (e.g. updating the deeds to remove the mortgage company's interest and hand full ownership over to you).

Early redemption charges will depend on the Ts & Cs of your mortgage. You will need to check your documentation.

  • Thanks Pav,
I am with the Halif so will have to give them a call. I just dread calling as I want to get someone who knows what they are talking about and give me the right info.

  • Just want to say I only have FOUR mortgage payments left :j

OP'd £285 today which took probably my last month off my end date. I now finish in May.

On the 'get out and be social in 2016' I am out Sat night with family and meeting a friend for lunch on Sunday. I am out with work for an Italian in the week. (thats a meal not a man mores the pity ;) )
I have joined meetup groups and have rsvp'd one so far at the end of the month (others are not the right days for me around the kids.) I dont think my bank balance is going to like me this month!

Decluttering has still not re-started I am ashamed to say. Have kept on top of the living room, and the kids toys are sorted and are CSd or thrown. I have some frames that I really need to put some photos into. They have sat in my room for months. I need to get some command strips.
Also plan for this year is to paint my bedroom furniture. (another thing I keep putting off)

Still havent done any comps this year yet but I have been playing loads of board games with the kids.
Been doing loads of long walks with the dog and my DS. Hes a mommas boy bless him, loves to keep me company.
