  • Thank you for the ideas, I did hampers a couple of years ago. My mum still has the stuff in them UNUSED! (bath stuff etc)
She did used to knit, not sure if she would sew or embroider although she is alone all day I dont know what else she now does other than watch tv 24/7!
One of my sisters does read but dont really know what she has and hasnt read.

Have ordered a few things for DS which will be del to work, they might get a bit annoyed next week lol He is almost done now apart from the usual chocs, sweets.
DD on the other hand is a lot more difficult :(

  • Yay the day has come that I can OP again. I am on 3.99% SVR.
I thought I would be eager to do it but it has been nice seeing a healthy amount of money in my savings account.
I ummed and arred all morning whether to do it or not but in the end I thought if I had been able to OP over the last few months I wouldnt have thought twice about doing it in stages soooo I did OP all I had put aside. It might not seem much to some of you but I OP'd £1600 this morning. This only took a couple of months off my end date and only saved £42 in interest :( End date now next June :T
My new target now is to try and be finished by April which might not seem a huge leap from June but I have to OP quite a lot to knock another month off.
At the moment I need to OP another £1350 to finish in April which is about £265 a month. Hopefully achievable. If I wanted to finish in March I would have to OP £550 a month which is way above what I can afford and I dont want to bust a gut to do that really. One extra month wont cost me much in interest at all so need to go all out. In fact the £1350 above would only save me another £15! if paid over the 5 months (not inc Nov)

My current balance is.....drumroll please...... £5768 :D Soo soo close.
My MPs have gone up to £900. My current standard OP is now £184 over what my MP should be

I have gone over my yearly target of £4k, current OP figure is £5289 (132%) but didnt quite meet my end target of next month but only by about a few months but hey ho.

Am waiting for OneP to pay me, i know it takes up to 28 days but that payment will pay for my mates birthday present this month.

  • Mortgage is currently at £4887. I have put a small, minute, miniscule bit aside but have not OP'd it in case I need it for xmas.

Been thinking about the xmas food shop, where we all go mad and buy loads of crap just cos its the 'season' Kids expect it so I cant disappoint them. How do you keep frugal at xmas?

Konmari has come to standstill. I have come to my kitchen and I just dont want to start it. I have a few cupboards that are just full of junk and I know I have stuff in there I havent seen for years and therefore dont obviously need them. I could probably get back 3 cupboards haha.
I already did the understairs cupboard and dds built in cupboard and took a car load to the dump and a car load to the CS :)

We are quite restrained with the Christmas food shop although everything is so tempting. It is just the 4 of us this year so will be very low key. It's an awful lot of effort isn't it. As a child, there were lots of things we only had at Christmas and our hamper delivery was a real treat!

Do you get days off between Xmas and New Year ND? That's when I used to decorate :rotfl: - maybe set yourself a challenge?
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • I am only off xmas eve as an extra day :( Dont really want to spend that time clearing things. I might set myself a challenge in the new year. ;)
