Happy new year Norfolk dream, I bet during 2015 you will knock months off your MF end date. Good luck and do share your journey with us if you can.

  • Ok will put a few figures here to show what last years payments did :)

    Mortgage balance:
    Dec 2013 £29,987 , Dec 14 £18,584 WIOTW reduced in December 2014 by £11,403 :D

% of mortgage now paid off:
    Dec 13 66%, Dec 14 79.35%

    LTV -
    Dec 13- 27%, Dec 14 - 16.89%

    Months left to pay -
1 years 9 months (21 payments) as of Jan 15.
    Current MFD is Oct 2016

Months I need to make disappear to reach my Dec 15 target - 10!!! haha never going to happen as am just about paying the mortgage and standard OPs at the moment and any small OPs aren't making any months move! I am also using the money for nicer things ;) as well as needed things!

I need about £800 to knock months off these days :( That's my MP cost on its own!

Would have been nice to be able to end it this year but since my mortgage free journey in 2009 I have OP'd £36,416 and slashed my original end date of Feb 2032 by 15 years and 4 months :T:j
I still think its unbelievable how much I have saved in interest and how many people just still pay the normal MPs and will do for another few decades. I would have still had 17 years left ! And probably would have dwindled the extra money I have OP'd on daft stuff and have nothing to show for it.

As always ND, in awe of your achievements :T:T:T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Have Read your diary, don't think about the monthly reductions you are so nearly there, any overpayment will help and it keeps you in the money saving mindset :-)

Hope to be welcoming you to norfolk too. Check out my MFW diary for inspiring norfolk related walks and activities!

Just wanted to say Happy New Year norfolkdream and your achievements are awe inspiring!
You have done so well  and reading your posts keeps me believing I can do it as well :)
  • Aww thanks guys for the nice comments.

Am going to try and get my OP mojo back this year. Starting with an extra £100 OP (standard OP £165 comes out automatically with my MP)
My target of £4k means I need to make £168 OPs extra each month

I need another £482 OP (not inc standard OP) to take my next month off. I don't mind if I only knock a couple of months off this year as I will still be mortgage free NEXT YEAR! Sounds weird :D

Knocking a couple of months off in 1 year is still a massive achievement ND, you are so close to your end date now. Any closer you can bring it is definitely a bonus. Wishing you well for this year.
