Dreaming of a new life in Norfolk.

I think a lot of us are like that with moving or staying. In the last week I've convinced myself I want to move and today I was seeing the sense of staying lol. Who knows what tomorrow will be.norfolkdream wrote: »There is nowhere for a side gate, I live in an end terrace and the house the other side has a lean to onto the side of my house
The parking is the biggest bugbear for me here and it will only get worse as we are getting new neighbours and more cars fighting for spaces. A friend visited tonight and they had to park half way down the road.
I did think of a loft conversion here (not sure where the stairs would go tho) and a conservatory but my garden isnt huge although it wouldnt be too bad as I dont use the garden a lot anyway. I also thought about extending the kitchen sideways but not sure it would be worth it. There is so much I would love to do but then think it would be just easier to move lol.
We did the walk to the house and it took us 20 mins, there is no way the kids would want to do that every day.
I am so spoilt with the room sizes in my house, my bedroom is 16ft x 12ft and the 2nd bedroom is 14ft x 12ft (the boxroom lets us down v.small!) The lounge is 22ft long too. I should really be grateful for what I have got instead of moaning about what I dont!
I am still catching up Norfolf but wanted to comment on this before I forgot! Memory not what it used to be!
I love your idea of moving to the coast, we have just been to Cornwall and it was beautiful. The house we stayed in was on the market so we all had a rightmove nose!
We have a small 3rd bedroom too but you have much bigger main bedrooms. Is there anyway you could re-jig the upstairs if you are staying?June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
The house across the road from me is up for sale and the same set up as mine with regard to size but they have their bathroom in the middle of the upstairs where my second bedroom is and that is cut off to make a small bedroom and then where my bathroom is they have that and the boxroom together at the back. There house is absolutely immaculate inside. It puts mine to shame. cannot wait to get this mortgage done and dusted so I can do the house up to 'showhome' status.
If I was to stay in this county I would move to a village nearby so the kids arent cut off from everything but when I go walking I realise how cut off villages are. The parking here is awful, its driving me insane but everything is local and I can walk to it if I want to.
We went out today to a local caravan site/park/lake thingy and sat in the sun watching the swans on the water and I could have sat there all afternoon. I would love to live somewhere near water that I could just walk up to and waste the time away relaxing etc., there is something so soothing about it.

There is a house up for sale in a village not far and its about 10 min walk to a local reservoir and 2 minute walk to a duck pond. I think its privately being sold and I know it will be way out of my financial grasp but it would be fab apart from the kids school.
Once again dreaming for when the kids have learnt to drive haha.MFW 16 No 33

I hope to move to a village in the next few years and a colleague reminded me to be mindful of how the children would get back and to etc. it hadn't even crossed my mind but would be a big factor if they were too far away from friends etc.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

When I moved to my village, I just accepted that I would be 'taxi-driver' for a number of years....and I was!Must admit, I still am from time to time....particularly when the weather is bad as both of my kids decided that motorbikes were their preferred mode of transport!!!

Hi all,
After our visit to Norfolk I have found that the town we went to didnt really have much for the kids to do apart from the beach, everything was in the next town but the next town was more commercialised and very busy. It has confirmed that I am staying put for now while the kids get their education.
There are a lot of retired people about, probably because there is not a lot of work unless you go into the main towns. I used to think why on earth would people move away from these lovely coastal towns, they were so lucky to live there but I guess you always want to see what its like elsewhere or progress a career.
With regards to OPing, its been virtually non existant but I am actually quite calm about it whereas before I was very agitated if I couldnt OP at least a little bit.
Have done my standard OP £165, and towards the end of last month I OP'd £50 (but dont think i stated it here) I need another £120 to take another month off so have done that and I am close to my 10% limit so this will be my last OP until September (and will put money aside and try not to spend it) I now need another £830 to knock another month off so will be another couple of months before that happens, the months are going down as quickly now there isnt much left on the mortgage but hey ho at least its not double the amount on my mortgage total.
It used to only take a me a couple of months to OP that much but will be more like 4 at the moment :mad:MFW 16 No 33

That's because you're doing that 'having a life thing' ND  - and so you should :T. What's another month or two compared to the years you've knocked off?A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Thanks GG, I think thats why I am not bothered really, I am enjoying a bit of a life. It might mean another year of the mortgage I hadnt planned for but then you cant plan everything to within an inch of its life!
I have 2.5 years left and if it stays like that I dont mind, it would have been 2032  so would still be 16 years earlier  Since I started in 2009 I have OP'd almost £35k, if I hadnt started it that money would have probably been wiltered away with nothing to show for it. That doesnt include the interest I have saved over the yearsMFW 16 No 33

Enjoy your time. Two years is nothing compared with waiting until 2032. Mine is still 2031 and remember when we were almost on par. Look at how far you have come0
