Glad you're managing not to stress about it, ND. You have done so amazingly well, and will be MF so much sooner than you could have had any idea of when you first took out the mortgage. So what if life has intervened so that it will be just a few extra months before you are MF? Your achievement is still a triumph, not a disaster. :T

Hello, I've been looking at your diary over the last day or so, and have found it very interesting.

I think it's great to have a dream you want to fulfil, it's a motivation to keep you going.

Before my cousin emigrated to Canada, he and his wife lived in Norfolk for a few years. They were both involved with the University of East Anglia, and lived in a small village just outside Norwich. We went up for the day a couple of times, and it was lovely. Convenient for the town, but felt way out in the country, if you know what I mean. Some lovely walks too. Certainly a good place to live

I'm subscribing to your diary, as I'm interested to find out how you'll progress in the journey to your dream:)

Thanks guys, I have shaved off 16 years off my original MED so I am really pleased with that, I only wish I had started sooner! I hope that my kids learn from this and start early but its really hard to get on the mortgage ladder in the first place.

I am visiting Norfolk a few times this year and hope to make friends each time I go :) get some inside knowledge. Would love if my kids ended up at the uni at Norwich, I know my DD would love that town.

  • Keep the faith ND!! You are so much closer to mortgage freedom and the move with what you have already achieved! :D

I've had a totally pants month money-wise, but every quid I put on it brings the balance down and saves me interest payments....there is not a chance in hell that I will get to my 3 year target, but at least I will have made a big dent!!;)

My dh studied at the UEA (he's originally from the midlands) and one of his friends has never left....went on to do his masters, doctorate etc and is now a lecturer/professor....speaks volumes!! :D

Thats great I have heard good things about UEA. But whatever my kids want to do its their lives (as long as they choose a happy path :) )

I have been a bit frivalous with money this past few weeks, its quite liberating after so many years of being frugal. I even had a cheeky chinese at a friends, felt very naughty haha. I think because in my head I wont have my normal extra to OP I am having a break from it for a few months (sort of) I will do small OPs porobably as like an addict I cant stop completely ;)

Thats a nice way to look at it thanks :D A friend of mine did say he usually has 3 takeaways a week  I know my boss eats out every fri-sun. They dont understand my frugal ways and say they prefer to live. I guess they are living now whilst I am saving for a better future.
It has to be a good balance I guess.
