Saw something similar on Restoration Man (Some people wish it would happen, some people want it to happen and some people MAKE IT HAPPEN) but liked this quote better :)

I've used etsy before. You can get more money for your products but it takes a lot of work to network etc to get noticed on etsy as it's so big

Was reading your diary and found this. LOVE it :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
  • Thanks, I love these sayings so there may be a few more along the way on this thread :)

I am in a really bad mood today mostly because of finances.

My ex has informed my DD (not me!) that he is being made redundant! He hasnt paid his maintenance this month either and doubt I will get it for the next few weeks if he isnt working. Although normally redundancy doesnt mean you leave straight away does it? I think he should pay this month as he will be paid this month. I just know he is going to use this as a reason not to pay. He wont get a big payout (and even if he did he would claim he hadnt)

I received my bonus today which I was expecting to be about £350 ish. I came out with £232 on top of my wages. The tax I normally pay a month is about £47 (only work part time) but this month because of my bonus I have paid £165!! (bonus was £368) Is that right that half my bonus goes to tax? This has really peed me off. Is this right do you think? I thought it would just be taxed like the rest of my wages. so probably only about another £30-£40 :(

I would have thought he would have been given a months notice, and a weeks wage for every year hes been there. (Or something along those lines)

As for the bonus thing, I get bonus most weeks depending on how much work I do and its all taxed at the normal rate. I can't see why they would charge any more tax.... unless you've gone into the 40% tax bracket

  • Nowhere near the 40% tax bracket! (I wish!) I think I may have gone over the tax limit on my tax code so paying more now :(

I have just looked at the tax calc on here and it reckons I should be paying £60 so I have been paying £13 a month less than I should, maybe they have collected it all in one go, I thought they averaged it out :(

  • Had a slight panic this morning as went onto bank account and my username wasnt on there automatically and I couldnt remember it! The reminder facility wouldnt recognise the 'correct' info I was giving and I needed to transfer my wages to the account my mortgage comes out of as I wouldnt have enough. Had to ring them and they asked security questions I couldnt answer  I dont use the bank card for it so didnt know where it was, I didnt have a 6 digit security number for telephone banking as I dont use it. I was really panicing that they wouldnt give me the info but eventually they did thankfully!

My account for March starts at -£60 cos ex hasnt paid his maintenance. I got a refund from broadband after I had cancelled and they still took the money last month. I havent been paid OneP yet, (thought I would have by now)

Still confused about the tax I paid this month but went on knowtax site and it shows the amount is correct but I am not sure whether that assumes I get that every month. (I wish) Anyone good with Tax??

wont be OPing for a week or so I imagine :( I need my fix of OP tho ;)
