+1 for give it a try (iStores amazing toyshops!)
Also, I really like inter iphone texts as it doesn't limit the characters or eat my text allowance. The colour clue means I can ID other iPhone users & know they are folks I can ask if my phone baffles me!
Then the iStore folks really know their stuff. Anything serious & I can book it in for a visit to a "Genius" (after a wad of online help) & the level of reassurance, help & education (as well as selling) has to be experienced to be beleived!0 -

For an iPhone you're paying more money for lower spec hardware that ties you into a closed operating system that forces you to do everything through Apple but is seen as cooler and a bit more user friendly than Android.
With Android you'll get a better spec phone for your money and an open operating system.
For me the choice is simple but if you can't find an Android phone you like I guess that will be the key factor.
Take a look at the Nexus, LG G2, Sony Xperia or HTC One and compare them to the iPhone 5C.
I have the LG G2 and am very happy with it but out of all of those i'd get a Nexus 5 if I was in the market for a phone today0 -

But it's not as simple as specs is it As much as android fanboys would have you believe. iOS is tailor made for the iPhone which means it's designed to work with that specific hardware. One phone gets an update. They all do. Having the OS made specifically for the hardware is an advantage android will never have. Because of its openness. Which is why certain android don't do certain things and an app will work fine on one but not on another. And after a year or so, if you're looking for updated. Don't bother. But they are cheaper and you get more bang for buck. There's pros and cons to each OS.
I use disk aid to sync my phone because I dislike iTunes. And this closed operating system thing, please explain how that affects your average phone user who makes calls, texts, browses the web and uses social media? If you're the type that likes to tinker then jailbreak just as you'd root your android.
I enjoy having an iPhone ( less now thanks to iOS 7). But I'm by no means a fangirl. I dislike the company and their massive cash grabbing ways. Their insistence on propriety. But they do have great customer service. Your iPhone breaks. You take it the shop and leave with a new one. Your android breaks you send it off and hope they actually do their job and fix it.Sigless0 -
Above post really sums it up in my view .
yes you pays your money and takes your choice one is not better than the other just different .
Personally user should be asking two questions of themselves .
One what do i want and two what walled garden would i be happier to join Android or Apple .Others may be available in the future like windows OS Samsung OS etc .
If i just wanted to use a smart phone it would probably be Apple but as i like to mess under the bonnet its Android .0 -
IMHO, this can be an advantage. If the phone works fine, I don't want any updates. On the other side many iPhone users have problems after forced updates and can't return to the previous version of iOS.And after a year or so, if you're looking for updated. Don't bother. But they are cheaper and you get more bang for buck. There's pros and cons to each OS.
Firstly, it's during the first year only unlessBut they do have great customer service. Your iPhone breaks. You take it the shop and leave with a new one.
you've bought it directly from Apple
OR
pay through the nose for the extended warranty
OR
are prepared to pay ~£150+ for getting even a minor fault fixed (except, probably, a battery replacement).
Secondly, you have to leave close enough to Apple store that isn't the case for many people.
At least most Androids have 2-year warranty and you can make the supplier to do all the job for you. With an iPhone most suppliers do their best to fob you off and to force into dealing with Apple directly without their intervention.Your android breaks you send it off and hope they actually do their job and fix it.
P.S. It isn't my intention to start another debate. I am just trying to clear some facts for the OP.0 -
iPhone all the way. Took me a week to get used to it after coming from Nokia.
it is personal preference as the HTC and Samsung phones are ok too.0 -

The question?
Why are iPhones so popular.
Because they are SO simple to use, they aren't the most advanced phone out their for your money...but if you just want a working phone with apps to download and nice little features...
You have the iPhone....the phone I can trust not to mess things up like AKA windows !
If this doesn't sound like what you want walk away...but as for the tech experts saying oh this is so much better...it probably is...but I love my iPhone and I would never have anything else because it works, its simple, it has everything I want - why would I even bother to look elsewhere?People don't know what they want until you show them.0
