Hmmmm.
Payday on Weds so am going shopping early in the old AM to do a Peter Kay Big Shop in Aldini.
But had to go to Arseda today to get a few things in that Aldini doesn't provide as yet. Also bought a loads of YS fish to go in the freezer. And also got some veggies in as one of my old workmates is coming over for tea tomorrow.
So a few bits later I've spent £35. God. Food has become so much more expensive. And this is just for me, feeding me and my friend. And we don't need that much feeding. We're both only 5'2".
Its all the governmen'sts fault.
LOVE saying that. For anything - my late train, for not going to the cinema cos there's just not anything on worth seeing, to going upstairs at 7PM and walking into my bedroom and realising I'd forgotten to put clean sheets on my bed and a bare mattress is looking at me, to stubbing my toe....

Fine - it's been that long I don't know if I remember what to do with him, anyway.
Excellent list. I am still in bed - have been up to get food and had a bath but bed is my default position. have now got exercises to do to help my injured leg get better and most of them involve lying down (standing up one I do on the landing so I can hold onto the bannister rail with one hand, so I don't fall over).
Am also actively avoiding rooms where there are jobs which involve lifting/ carrying or going up ladders - I am in that river in Egypt for the sake of my mental health. Can't do it (skip haul was excellent but everything hurt the next day and it was only a 7 minute walk each way and lifting things from the skip onto the truck), not allowed to do it, so not thinking about it in case it makes me cry.
Did an excellent job clearing the floor in here yesterday, but could barely crawl back on the bed when I got tired. The longer I have been in this room (6 weeks now), the more things have come in here - books, paperwork, sewing (+ the dismantled attic stairs are still in here). Focusing my ire on the crowbar - is Other people don't have a crowbar on the bedroom floor a good title for a diary. Was going to start a diary at the beginning of March, was originally going to be Reasons to be Cheerful, changed from the Fightback to Fitness and Financial Freedom to The Slow Crawl Back to Fitness and Financial Freedom (following my collapse) and now it's just this It's me or the Crowbar - one of us has to go!
I BLAME THE GOVERNMENT! I'm broken now and they expect me to work another 10 years for a pittance of a pension (which at the moment I am qualified for as I need 30 years contributions and I have 33 BUT they want to increase it to 35 years).
Think I'll do some more exercises and think about Idris Elba. Yum. (bonus pelvic floor workout without even thinking about it - sorry too much information). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Pleased with todays progress! Baby steps to get back into routine I was in before everything went a bit bosoms up but realising this is probably to be expected!
Will try a list tomorrow and see how we do.
Mothernerd - oh eh!! So sorry you're laid up. Bloody Government!! What has the doctor said? Do you need physio?
Please try not to do so much - I completely see you must be bored and frustrated but you can cope with this in the short term - no one here in Diva land wants to see you laid up long term! We all love you far too much for that.
Lie back and dream of Idris....siiiigh......
PS In other news I'm gonna watch The Artist at 9pm on BBC 2. Anyone recommend it? xxxxxxxxxxxxxx2014 Frugal Living Challenge

Is that the silent one? If so, I quite liked it (more than I thought I would), but mostly I liked the dog
I would recommed Fargo, on channel 4, but it's week 2 now, so maybe on catch up? xDebt remaining:

Hiya giblet nic to see you in here!
Now then, Fargo. Loved the film, meant to watch the show last week and forgot and now you've just reminded me again. Will deffo have a look at it on Catch up as lots of people are saying its been a good opener to the series. So I'll give it a go!
I've got the whole of the True Detective series to watch too - not seen any of it yet. Anyone had a watch?
Got The Artist on in the background - too be honest I'm not really watching! Just attempted to bring the last 2 weeks' spends up to date as I lost the run of myself over the last couple of weeks to be perfectly honest. I had kept most receipts but it was a bit of a horror show!
Hopefully get things back on track now. Only got a few weeks of uni left so that should save my travel costs.
Ohhhhhhhhhhh.....headache now!!! Siiiiiiiigh. Counting up the pennies is difficult.
Still though. Glad I've now got the sense to do the counting. Beforehand I just....didn't.
Love the dog in The Artist! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx2014 Frugal Living Challenge

Hmmm.
V much enjoying uni work today.
Nutshell: have to submit a research proposal in a couple of weeks, its approx. 3500 words. However due to studying part time I won't be carrying out the research til next year!!
My parents are on holiday til Weds and to be honest I've enjoyed having the place to myself. Peace and quiet whilst doing uni work has been marvellous. My sister is currently finishing her MA, my best friend is currently completing his PGCE and his other half is almost done with his MA too.
All of us agree that it would be a dream come true to rent a little cottage and fully immerse ourselves in study, get tons of reading done and purposefully, confidently carry out our own research....
Dream on haha!!
Divas how do you feel about studying, learning, education? Of course none of this necessarily needs to take place in traditional educational establishments such as schools or universities - how about from the comfort of your own armchair, reading an interesting book, article, an online course, practising a brand new practical skill eg gardening, decorating?? Or taking the plunge and getting back in the classroom?
Do you enjoy learning new things? Do you take opportunities to do so? Or do you prefer not to? How did you get on at school - did you enjoy it....or not?!
Personally I enjoyed college and uni, hated my PGCE and am LOVING my MA. School just felt so restrictive to me. The school I went to just wasn't creative at all but in hindsight I'm sure the teachers did their best. But there wasn't many ways to be expressive and we pretty much learned by rote. We probably looked like extras from the video for Thriller when we emerged in 5th year! (Yr11 in bang on trend language!)
Any thoughts please! Meantime I'm back to it. Catch up later xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx2014 Frugal Living Challenge

Funny you should ask that around this time skinty. I have recently been toying with the idea of going to Uni. I absolutely HATED school and when I left, just before I turned 17, I went straight into full time employment. I just couldn't wait to get away from school. I left with 8 standard grades but no highers.
In 2003 I decided to do some further education and went to college (age 26) for a year. I was amazed that I thoroughly enjoyed it and I did very well in my classes. I had thought it would be school-like but it wasn't and I fondly remember it as the best educational year of my life.
In 2008 I started an evening course to give me a qualification related to the job I do. It was a 2 year course. I sat 7 exams and passed them all, 3 of them with distinction!
I just don't know what to do now. My qualification is specialised to the job I do (legal cashier - Scottish Law Accountant) and I can't really progress any further with that. I have been thinking about my options and I think that following an accounting route would be a good idea. It may be boring but I enjoy it and I am reasonable at it.
Thing is, I am 36, I have a child and a mortgage. I would have to do any courses part time as I have to work. I could do it in stages but how long would that take? Could I do a degree? I only got 8 standard grades at school. I did the law accountant course though. Would that count? I have looked at the local universities and there is one that does a Masters in Accounting part time. Would I be biting off more than I could chew? It would take 6 years to do it part time, as opposed to 4 years full time (not an option for me). I couldn't start it until next year when I will be 37 so 43 by the time I finish.
I'm sorry for hijacking your diary. I have no one to discuss this with. I am really just thinking out loud, no need to actually answer me, hahaMortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
