Mum and Dad home from a lovely holiday (yay! They've needed it, mum says she feels she's 'turned a corner' after rotten start to the year. Good to hear) Her and dad bought me a couple of lovely new bags back, how nice is that? Im 38!! Am chuffed haha!

One of them is a shopping type bag, Mum said 'I thought that would be good for when you're doing your messages' hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

We also have a 'back kitchen' even though we've only got one kitchen, like the vast majority of people. 'Put that in the back kitchen for us'. As opposed to what?? The side kitchen?!
And although we've got a front and back garden, their garden-ness never gets mentioned. Its always 'The Front' and 'The Back'. EG - 'where's me Dad?' 'He's out watering The Front' hahahaaaaa!!

...Right. Early night I think. Want to get down the shops early to get the messages in (got to get those messages, innit girlatplay!!). Mum and dad back tomorrow....!

    Night all xxxxxxxxxx

Sits up in bed, light back on..........anyone else in here call doing the shopping 'going for the messages'?! xxxxxxxxxxx
...One of them is a shopping type bag, Mum said 'I thought that would be good for when you're doing your messages' hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

:rotfl:Properly LOL'd at these! "Messages" is very common here in Scotland. Tends to be the more mature types that use it now, like your grannies and their friends. My grandma used it (although she passed away 22 years ago). I know I used it on my diary the other day skinty but I honestly hardly ever use it. It just popped out that day!

I used to have a boss who was a Scouser. I remember her saying something one time that completely confused me. I had no idea what she meant but she said it was definitely a Scouse phrase: "I gave her a down the banks". Whenever I hear that now I smile smugly to myself because I know what it means! ;)

I was 40 the week I started my MBA and there are quite a few people I am on the course with who have not been to uni before. If you do a part time course it tends to be with more 'mature' (ahem) individuals. Yes you will get some smart ar%"s but mostly they are good guys who are in the same boat as you.

Start looking into it and there is a thing called career development loans that does pay some of the fees and you start to pay it back after you are finished.

Thank you. I actually have some savings (see sig) but they are supposed to be towards buying the HA share of my house so that I own 100% of it (well, with mortgage). I am so afraid of debt though that I would use them to carry me through. I spent such a long and horrible time getting out of debt and then some time building up the savings that I couldn't bring myself to take on debt again. I am currently saving for a holiday that Little Miss Gap and I are taking at the end of June but once that is over I will have circa. £300 per month to save. I was going to use that to reduce the mortgage (it is interest only) but I would be more than happy to portion it up to cover Uni fees.

I am definitely looking into it. I spoke to my colleague who went "back" to Uni a few years ago. She says she was 46 when she went back. She said it was surprisingly easy to go back. The work was hard and she had to work hard but going there was fine.

Thank you everyone for your continued suggestions and support. xx

    Evening Dear Divas xxx

How are we, what we up to???
I've good news and bad news today. Bad news is just awful - woman who lives in street behind mine was burgled this week. Carbon copy of our burglary...except this time they went upstairs. Will spare you the details but they were armed and although she wasn't physically hurt she's very shaken up and off work.

What the %£*& is going on, Divas?? This has been such a quiet area of town for the whole time my parents have lived here. All of sudden its just...not? But onwards and upwards we go otherwise we'd never sleep. Or something.

Anyway, good news today - my session at work was cancelled wooop! So had an unexpected free afternoon! Treated self to cake and coffee then shopped for friends daughters' birthdays tomorrow. More coffee and cake when I go up there tomorrow!

Lazy night tonight. Loads of stuff Ive recorded off the telly so will see what I fancy watching.

Money wise Im hopefully back on track. This will be a skinty month for sure as I've lots of birthdays. But in a better frame of mind than last month so that helps.

Hope everyone's good - Happy Friday xxxxxxxxxxxx

    Morning Diva Types! xxxxxxx

I'm in bed, will move in a min. My telly catch up didn't work, as found other stuff to watch!! Stupidly decided to watch a repeat of Eastenders that seemed to go on and on and on....I called time on The Vic when I realised they were repeating storylines from 1998, 2009 AND 1987 at 1.30AM this morning!!

I've really lost touch with all the soaps, but lots of people I know watch them regularly. In fact lets do this, Divas: who watches the soaps here??
In fact, what telly do you watch regularly?? I'm always interested in this as I've noticed for years now I just don't seem to watch any!!

Which of course means I do, but am such a sucker for documentaries about music I seem to spend load of time watching them. What else? I never seem to get round to watching the big serials that are on, so miss out on loads of conversations of 'did you see so-and-so last night?'

What am I doing with my time, Divas??!! Probably watching documentaries about ELO, Curtis Mayfield, Kate Bush and Norwegian Industrial Dance. Aaaaaargh am geek!!!

I do make the effort sometimes, honest. I watched Mad Men for yonks and loved it and stumbled across The Wire on BBC2 a few years ago and oh my god got hooked. The Wire is, in my skew-wiff opinion, simply the greatest TV series ever made, I think it is truly great art. Just the best.

But I think I need more trash in my life. I'm watching Luther a bit....but as we know that's cos I fancy Idris Elba. Like, dead bad (first found him in The Wire...oh Idris...). What else...Friends and Frasier repeats. Oooh taping that new series, Hinterland. Maybe watch that this weekend.

Aaaaaaywaaaay today is a bit more of a relaxed day, simply need to get up, get fed, showered, ready and take these pressies up to my mates house, gossip with her and then come home and get busy in the kitchen I reckon.

    So. Lets make a start.

    Happy Saturday, Divas xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
