Speeding can be safe depending on the conditions. Cyclists do ride dangerously and put them into near fatal situations. Many times I had to take avoiding action and brake harshly because I had two cyclists filtering through the road on either side of me and they were both converging in front of me as the road becomes narrower. Had I continued driving I would have hit one of them, so I had to brake.
This is what !!!!es me off about cyclists, they just assume motorists will stop on their tracks to take avoiding action even when motorists has right of way.
Then a few get killed and they cry and moan about how dangerous cars are.
When I cycle I full understand how difficult they are to see. I always have flashing lights, high vis jacket and a headlight so I can be seen above any obstructions. I ride as I would if I was driving, stopping at red, giving way. Just insane how many cyclists would just ride on in a roundabout and expect the car already in the roundabout to bank right.
In the above incident I could have been rearended because I had to break sharp because cyclists were riding stupidly. In the event of a rear ender, cyclist would be long gone and the motorist/bike behind me would be liable for the accident caused.
Another cyclist who caused an accident dissapears off the radar and does not get added to the accident statistics.0 -
Someone coming up to a car as aggressively as the cyclist did maybe the assault was reasonable. Reasonable force to protect himself and the other occupants of the car.
Or just shut the doors and windows, he got out and added to the confrontation. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Last gen Range Rover weighed 2810kg, depending on config.
Well no, that was my point. A 747 pilot is by no means equivaent to a car driver, any more than a car driver can be equated with a cyclist, as londonTiger insists.adouglasmhor wrote: »Or just shut the doors and windows, he got out and added to the confrontation.
What a doormat0 -
When I was at primary school I had my foot run over by a BMC van while crossing the road. I didn't fall to the ground screaming, have any broken bones that I know of or anything, my foot was a bit bruised later on and my toenail fell off.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. So can running a red light or any of the other issues that motorist have with cyclists. Anything can be safe in the right conditions, doesn't mean it's right or legal.
These threads just get ridiculous. There are good and bad road uses, full stop, regardless of mode of transport.0 -

Well that is what the law requires - he was acting as a vigilante, no different from the cyclist, both were wrong. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Such experience an insight, you can certainly teach these inexperienced road users a thing or two eh? Whether they be shoppers who mislay their bags or 4x4 drivers that need to be bested.
Exactly how long have you been driving to gain such finely honed, hard earned skills?

Exactly. I don't know why the cyclists are putting the blame entirely on the car driver. AFAIK if you start a fight and get beaten up you have no sympathy. If police were to be involved they wouldn't have much sympathy for the cyclist either. They'd have a strong word with both. But cyclist ultimately started it.0
