LuckyStarr - turning 29 was the nail in the financial coffin for me. I realised I would be royally screwed if I lost my job and so set about on my debt busting mission - what is the plan for you - do you have monthly goals etc? Does your OH know about this thread? What train of thought is he on..? QUOTE]
Hi everyone
My OH knows about the thread he is really good with money and always had money till he met me lol its me that does the spending not him :wall:.... so i really need to get on board and stop spending for the sake and to keep up with the "joneses" as such.

Well done everyone you are doing amazing :T0 -
Thanks Kat, it feels great and I plan to clear another one of my smaller debts next month. I've decided to change the way I think of this debt, instead of thinking 'Aaagh, this is a huge amount, It's going to take me years to sort!!' From now on it's going to be 'It's only seven more debts to go, I can do this!! It doesn't seem as bad this wayTotal debt - £16,687.86 approx. - Paid so far - £13,156.30 - £350. a month to DMP - DFD 17/01/2019 But I WILL make it sooner!!0

Yay managed to get another lunch to work, another SFD and another exercise session today.
Luckystarr I have definitely found meal planning has really helped me this month, my grocery budget may look high to some but it is for four people and I was spending £400+ prior to this month. Less than 10 days to March and my thoughts start turning to the next challenge.
Then I realise that producing yet another inspirational monthly challenge after moving house, dealing with bike poorliness, fraught journeys to work, work itself, overtime, having to take time off, archery, archery chums, planning a 5 year jaunt, saving up for said jaunt, plus the usual cook, shop, wash, sleep (?)... might - just might - be a tad tough to do. Kat, I hope and trust all will settle for you and you can get into a routine with work, rest and play.
Especially the rest and play parts.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
NSK I went to Cafe in the Crypt this weekend when I visited London. We were playing Hidden Cities it was on our treasure hunt
It was lovely and had gluten free cake
Spend day today as had lunch with a friend, I need to learn to say no more! However I ran 3 miles, swam a mile and walked about 5 milesAlso did a few favours for a friend this evening, so feeling very angelic
Hope you've all had a good daysLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

De-cluttered 102 items.
Woke before alarm went off. Ran bath and went to get food. Back upstairs-bath cold. Turned heating on, ate food, back to bathroom-not much progress.Managed a couple of warmish flannels of water and did my best.
Walked to appointment with health trainer. Very positive-lost 6lb in 4 weeks, now 14st 1 lb (was 17st 10lb in Dec 2012). Need to keep increasing activity slowly.
Walked to library to return library book and make food bank donation. Library sale on-not going to buy anything. Pile of PS2 games for £1 each. Recently lent my PS2 to DS2 when he was ill (was thinking of giving it him for his birthday). Round corner to old house,DS2 not in. Walk to his work- what games? Back to library, write out list of games.Back to DS2, chooses 10 (will pay me for them Friday). Go to Aldee (shares car park with his work). Spend £6.39.Back to old house, leave shopping on sofa.Fresh bag, back to library. Bring games back, collapse on sofa, eat sandwich and drink from my bag (picked up3 new library books, will save time later in week). Refill water bottle.
Another bag,go to wilko's for crack paint (for covering cracks in ceilings). Check seeds for ones I need, buy own brand 3 for 2, then gold bears (for DS3) from sale shelf (if they are same size these are now half Aldee/£lund price) And rosemary plant as missed Aldee offer (£2.99),this is£3. Also write down prices of garden items I need to tart house up for selling (large posh look pots for £11,water butts (for after move).May be worth having delivered rather than lugging them home myself. Prices for mum and her OH's favourite toiletries on offer (again better than £emporium).
Meet old friend of DS3's on way back, sit on bench catching up -she will try to see DS3 before going back to China (previous visit was for six weeks, this time she is going for a year).
Back to old house. Everything bought so far re-arranged into1bag + library books and 2paint trays (from upstairs). Rucksack and 2 empty bags to Sainsbobs.
Things fall apart here. Spent £62.98.Blown the budget. Had to have taxi home, with detour to pick up rest of shopping from old house -blown transport budget too.
76 items,40 reduced (would have cost £30.04 more if full price), 22 basics range.nearly everything on list for March, lots to cook and freeze, bulk buys on a couple of things I knew I couldn't get at a better price and £10 of nectar points when I need to top-up. One luxury item - I needed a potato masher but I also bought a slotted spoon.
But still very very bad. Sorry. Won't go out to play with zombies again as I have ceilings and walls to paint and floors and cupboards to sand. Will report back when have rescued the situation. Also done about 5 hours walking today. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
morning all
just realised that despite yesterday being pay day it was also a sfd :j:T
aiming for another todaytomorrow i will go food shopping and will pop into an indian shop to pick up popcorn and spices. will also drop off stuff at charity shop.
decided i am going to go for a swim today as pain has still not completely gone but i am turning into a big fat slob sitting around eating popcorn and mini eggs everyday! feel very sluggish and want to get back onto eating healthy and exercising. will just do 20 mins of gentle swimming and then chill in the sauna and steam room. back is also hurting from slouching on the sofa and arms and shoulders hurt from lugging the fence panels in the garden. surprised i can feel this with all the ibuprofen im taking!
last time i had this they said i could still exercise if it didnt strain my chest so might go for a run tomorrow.
plans for today-
feed friends cats and go for swim
mop down stairs
cook pot chilli
enter competitions:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -

mothernerd - well done on your weight loss, you must feel much better for it.
The weather is starting to get to me, I don't normally feel bothered by it and love winter (weird I know) but right now it is like dusk here and keeps raining. I think rather than the rain it is how depressing everything looks, bare trees, muddy grass, dirty footpaths. Does anyone else feel like that?
On days like today I wish I didn't work from home, it is very lonely. I think I need to start looking for another job.
A SFD planned here.
I am hoping to pick up some fabric from charity shops/ebay in the next few weeks and have a go at some dressmaking for DD. I make my own soft furnishings but have never had a go at clothes but will give it a whirl and get DD involved too. My mum made loads of clothes but never taught me how to sew (went to nightschool to learn), she is a good cook, knitter, embroiderer and baker but again never taught me how to do any of it, I want to teach my children the skills I have.

Morning,
SFD today at home doing housey sorting out stuff.
Tomorrow will be a spend day as will Saturday as we are out.
I'm not feeling confident this month with regard to the challenge. Yes I have planned my spending and budgets BUT the shopping budget has gone over thanks to DH and his obsession with shopping. He wants to do a big shop but I said not till Monday as that's when I get paid!
Made around £70 before fees on ebay the last two weeks so I am dead chuffed with that. Not sure what to do with the money, slam it on the debt or save it in my paypal account.... hmmmmSquirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0
