Today will be another NSD. Will pop to the post depot and pick up a parcel from a friend and then pop into Tesco armed with £13.56 worth of money of your next shop vouchers, coupons and the like to top up on nappies and fruit.

EDIT; Moved my witterings to my own thread. Hope you don't mind but I was getting off topic of this thread!

Apologies for my absence this month, not looked at any posts yet, hope everybody is ok. Well today I made my usual payment to DMP of £260 and also for the first time I managed to pay an extra £200 to one of my creditors, clearing one of my smaller debts :) One down - seven to go!!

Well done - you must be very chuffed.

Kat - sounds like a lovely trip out you had there.

I am hoping for a SFD today although I have a teeny bid on ebay for something for DD so we will see.

I am not going to be able to pay much off the cards this pay day as we have so many bills to pay (just like last month), we have to buy a girl guides top, pay for music lessons, have a towbar fitted, DH is going for a meal out and comedy night with DS's football team, water bill. I hope no more come in now and I am really glad I used our savings to make a sizeable dent this month.

My kids break up for half term tomorrow so need to think of rainy day activities for next week.

  • morning all :)

payday today :j:T have shuffled money around. just paid the fence panels and extension lead off cc so only £161 in debt acc for dad :( will get £340 rent tomorrow and will transfer £27 from present acc (repaying the £100 of presents i bought on xmas day in sales as paid using debt money). should also hopefully get paid £34 for some mystery shops. so will be £562 to go to dad. would have been £650 if had not had to buy new fence and extension lead.

in order to be debt free by 31 march i need to pay £650 in feb and march plus find an extra £50.

so assuming i am able to make my £650 payment next month i will be £140 short. will transfer final £17 from present acc (then presents paid for) and due £43 mileage from work so £80 short. will make this up with £40 of my monthly spends this month and next so should still be on target :A:j

one of my best friends is currently on a career break from work in australia and has now decided to stay (for at least two years as she is going to get her second visa). she is home for 2 weeks in march so we are going on a spa break. i have found some deals for £100 inc dinner, bed, breakfast and lunch and treatments/use of facilities so will do that. with petrol and drinks reckon i need £150 and will only have £84 in my weekends away fund so the surplus will need to be from my monthly spends. so as monthly spends have pretty much halved I need to stop frittering!

fence panels just arrived and they are soooooooooo heavy. no idea how i am going to lift 6ft in air even with dad helping as could hardly lift 6 inches off the floor to carry them! unfortunately they are a bit wet so i have laid them out in the sun. going to rain tomorrow but should be sunny fri and sat so hopefully can paint sat :)

  • Ok - so lets see what you have all been up too...

Tiptoes - don't feel bad! For goodness sake I spent £1000 on a holiday so am in no place to tell any of you what you should and shouldn't do. And trust me I know just how important my hair is to me and if yours is even half of that then the price is very much justified. I just like to play devils advocate sometimes... please don't feel bad!

Thrifty / Dolly84 - I think these "errors" are how they really make their money. I wonder how many people are not to savvy to check their bills and claim money etc. It's the one thing I don't miss by having "all bills included" for the last few years but I remember what it was like having them "guesstimate" my usage and it was back in the days before my frugality kicked in so I wasted heating and leccy plus water like it was going out of fashion!

Stewby - that holiday is a long way off which gives you plenty of time to save save save. However, I am more interested in whats going in that slow cooker - my dream would be for it to cook my black beans without me having to soak them the night before - could I trust it though while I am at work? It has a timer right?

KarmaChi - have you roped in friends particularily for a "demolition party" or are they getting a surprise of overalls when they arrive? :rotfl:Sounds like you are going to have some serioud fun - although hard work!!

AppleMuncher is it Londonium today for you? Have you got any 2for1 London tickets printed or are you sticking to the free things... still lots to enjoy without spending money! And I take lunch bags with me everywhere! London prices are ridiculous! Really hope you have fun - you need to report back later on what you got up to please! :T

Fmess - total respect but no envy for you teachers. What a load of work to do. Good luck with the declutter. I like to get stuck right in buy you seem up to your eyeballs with everything at the moment... hope you get a wee cuppa and a sit down figured into your day.

LuckyStarr - turning 29 was the nail in the financial coffin for me. I realised I would be royally screwed if I lost my job and so set about on my debt busting mission - what is the plan for you - do you have monthly goals etc? Does your OH know about this thread? What train of thought is he on..?

CEW - I don't "celebrate" valentines either. Number one it's a pagan festival (I think) and it's verging on being a financial joke. I have had roses on the day once delivered to work which was amazing however I can't and would never justify the price for anything on the day and cuddly toys make me cringe. I would go "anti" and have a free picnic of yellow sticker items in my local park...:rotfl:

MrsGSR - send the kids over to mine I have scissors and will happily do it for free... I have this lovely bowl that's head shaped and an amazing template. Free right! .............. where do you hide your bank cards..? I lost my CC the other day - same principle. :rotfl:

£ashcow - I juist need to mention you cause every time I read your name I chuckle! Portrait Gallery is free?? Have you been into the Cafe in the Crypt for food across the road? It's under St-Martins-In-the-Fields - is that what it's called. Canteen style food, not cheap but big portions and a bit spooky....a treat location

CrazyCatLady - what an achievement. How does it feel? Do you intend to try this every month or as and when you free cash up? I am proud of you - this is something to clap.. :T:T:T

Thrifty - what do you think...?..I have £14.52 in vouchers. Food or new blender that's £24..??? My friend donated one and it's leaking and to "pulse" I have to switch it on and off at the wall. Not ideal and a little dangerous.

Right it's amazing what a can of "Energize" can do for a girl. Back soon!

I love this! This is planning ahead. Can't believe it. Two months to go and you are debt free. Pull in that spending.. you can do this. Keep posting ( haha) your week by week spends as I am intrigued by what you might be willing to give up in order to stay on track!

  • Morning all. Wow Clippy Girl can't wait until I am 2 months from debt free date, already starting to look for little ways to bring my date closer to me.

Really do find the SFD's hard to build up - I will not give up though!!

So happy looking at my bank account each day and seeing I am still in credit long after the point I would normally have been in my overdraft though and sure this is largely due to the fact I am accounting for every penny that leaves the account and asking myself "do you need it" before I part with any of our hard earned cash.

Having made a meal plan for the month (which we have nearly compeatly stuck to) I have managed to avoid any take-aways (although the boys have been promised a McDonalds on Friday -(first they have had this year) before me and hubby go our for my sister's birthday meal (with a voucher in our hands).

Wishing you al well for the last push in this months challenge!

Re Slowcooker, it only uses the energy of a lightbulb all day. I leave it on my kitchen counter (the outside gets a bit warm) but they are meant to be save left on all day. I wouldn't leave my oven on on low all day but I trust my slow cooker. I stick it on in the morning on the low setting, go to work and come home to a cooked meal.

Re vouchers, I'd use them to get the blender unless you could get another one cheaper of gumtree or in a charity shop? Wonder how to find out when Tesco do one of those double your vouchers for household items again. Is it a jug blender? Did you check Amazon, there are a few on offer just now £44 down to £14 etc
