    10/22 SFD’s.
    £80/£180
    £0/£5 local food bank.
Aiming to put £500 into savings account.
    5/12 fitness sessions
    1/2 Outing

Not a SFD today. Had to buy a bereavement card :( and a colander (from £1 shop) as I tried draining some rice in my sieve this morning and lost half the rice in the sink! I had a "senior/blonde" moment as I bemoaned that all of the uncooked rice fit in the sieve beforehand, why didn't it fit when it was cooked?:o

SFD has gone by the wayside as I paid in to a birthday collection for someone at work. I preserved a SFD last week by saying I could contribute on payday so that's caught up with me now :rotfl:

As I've already spent some money, I'll go and pick up milk after work tonight and also pop in to Sainsbury's and see what they have in their clothing sale as it's 25% off just now. I need some things for my holiday so might as well try and get them a little cheaper than I would otherwise spend ;)
  • Hello Slayers... busy day here in NSK land. Had to put a wee entry on my Travel thread as it was getting a bit neglected.

So I spent £80 on the motorbike yesterday who was suffering from an oil leak from the oil filter. The mechanic was brilliant as he took my bike in then and there, changed everything and then filled it up with more oil and washed it down so I didn't slip on the way home. He is south african, very kind in pushing me to the top of the queue and it's a weight off my mind. HOWEVER the money came out of my travel fund which makes me sad - simply because my stupid CC went missing. Ah well!

I have lost track of SFD's. I am sorry. What a bad naughty leader I am. I know there are about 9 but from there I am not sure. I intend to get more by the end of the month.

Hairdressers for £130 eh? I couldn't honestly justify it to be honest. I know there are instances whereby the damage needs to be rectified but it shouldn't need the same again in 6 months would it? If the lenght will grow out into a managable style and the colour is darker - would you feel comfortable letting it grow out, or getting the local college trainees to cut and colour it. They are generally watched a whole long harder than the "professionals" who saw you coming as you put it? Worth a try - I might check them out for a sports massage as my body is falling to bits recently...

    Lovely rain outside today...NOT!

Off to the London Acquarium soom to play with the turtles and the sharks - I will post a picture or two a little later. We are feeding the turtles and going for a shark dive although I doubt it will be anything to scary ( she says now)....

    Hi Zombie battlers!

Had a bit of a speedy weekend as we had to do a long trip in a diesel thirsty car.

We also had a bit of a shock with our electric bill. We pay np by dd, but ended up owing £157 and they are upping our dds by £30 a month. We were surprised as we've been very tight with our use and certainly don't use it more than we did when they worked out our last dd amount. Probably due to tumble drier use, but that will reduce when (if) it ever stops raining...

NSD yesterday and a second one today though. :-)

I have had the same problems with npower and am just in the process of switching. We have dual fuel and paid £120/month, they sent a bill (very late btw) and refunded us £167 without saying a word, on the bill they estimated out years useage at £1248 (£104/month) then put our dd up to £165. £45/month more, they rectified it when I rang and blamed the computer system (yeah right) but not before one dd went out of the bank at £165. How much of peoples money are they getting into their company by messing up like this, there is no way it is an accident.

Yes you have to watch that. EDF are very good at actually adjusting your DD to what you use plus a bit to either built up a wee buffer or pay of a small debt over half a year. I'm never much in debt or credit, nowadays. We got a bit in debit over the winter as our DD was just £55 (still from the summer, as we had some credit then) for dual fuel but we actually used £100. So they only upped it to £88 knowing we will use less soon and still be able to pay of the debt till the next review.

But with other suppliers I had that too, they increase your DD more than needed, send you a letter and just hope you won't notice. And then sit on your money.

Plan is for a spend-free day today... spending the day watching masterchef: south africa with my mum.
    :D

So that will be 12 out of 15!!!!
    :j

Our holiday budget in 2015 will already be blown out of the water as OH has just announced that his Dad is 60 next year and wants us all to go on a family holiday (I am assuming I am invited). The one he has found is £750 per person which will empty our holiday pot by the time it is filled.
It's a bit confusing because I am in two minds about it. I am sad that we are going to lose everything but at the same time glad that we actually have the pot so we are not going to be in any more debt. If that makes sense.
    :o

Tomorrow, we are going to my auntie's house to look at holidays (the four of us go every november/december). But we are taking lunch with us rather than going out so that's a bit MSE.
    ;)

Thursday and Friday are lost causes basically as we are going out celebrating. (Thursday is lunch out with my mum, granny, SIL and nephew then supper with my OH. Friday is a flea cup in the morning then lunch out with my mum).
On the plus side, I don't think I will be paying for any of it.
    :p

Don't think there's much else to say apart from that we are loving and having great fun playing with the slow cooker.
    :D

    Hope everyone is doing well.
    Hugs.

  • Hello all! Checking in after the weekend. Quite spendy but nothing too terrible. Lovely BF treated me with three course home cooked meal on Saturday, as well as flowers and a present. I was very spoiled.

Sounds like all had suitably MSE VAlentines . . . but wait Kat spent her's with archery boy?!!! How have we let that slip without interogation! Tell all! :D

Up to a count of 9 SFDs, including today, but hoping for more this week.

I've got some friends visiting for the weekend and we're planning to do demolitions in the flat. Will have tof eed my hungry workers, but hopefully will be saving lots on paid manpower!

Will your OH's dad just decide that's the one you're going on or do you have a say in it as it's a family holiday. I would go too, but would also like to be consulted over expenses and affordability, IYKWIM.

And yes see it as that's what the holiday fund is for and you won't go into debt for it.

  • No spends and a run, so figures bumping up. Feeling very very guilty today about the hair. It did need it and won't cost that ever again. Justify justify justify...

BT have also annoyed me today after messing up in November and supposedly rectifying it then, turns out they didn’t and I have had to start all over again today with them. Don’t you just hate it when you are on hold for 20 minutes listening to that message saying they are ‘experiencing high call volume at present’ when what they really mean is they are ‘understaffed at present’. I feel so sorry for the staff who get me and anyone else that has been on hold for that long and were already annoyed with the company! I was very nice I promise though.

Bah, in a grump now though and off to sulk (first world problems I know, I know)

An unexpected NSD to report:T! Dd needed a pyjama day so I was going to shop once dh got home, but dd said she'd go with me tomorrow, so will do that.

Have had a much needed day off exercise too. Tho I find that an enforced day off makes me eager to get to the next day, to work out and progress again. However, am pretty sure I'd win the 'sitting on your a55 all day' trophy!

Today's energies have focussed on knitting a family of owls. Mummy owl + 2 owl sproglets have wings, daddy owl has half a body, and no owls have eyes or noses yet. So no twit twooing tonight.

Tea was leftovers from a few days ago and last night. Dh is still full of cold, dd is nearly over hers.

Mum is not well enough for us to visit later this week, so am going to shift the petrol money for that, and take dd up to London. She's really cheap to take: can't usually buy food for her or me, so we all 3 have an enforced lunchbag each. She'll want an ice cream near the Eye, a play in the p,ayground and a go on the carousel. Then we'll walk to Trafalgar Square, make a few wishes, go through St James Park to the Palace and home. To her, that is 'doing' London! :)
