First check in of the month for me! Today is my first SFD, I was hoping for some on the weekend, but no luck. Saturday and Sunday were very low spends though: a couple of pound each, one for a birthday card and one for a non-aloholic drink at said birthday celebration.

MrsGSR - I want a Kenwood Chef too I just can't afford to get one at the moment, I have looked at the cheaper models and think they would probably be OK just for cakes but mixing dough is a bit more heavyweight. What recipes do you use for your bread? I do all mine by hand and it's really nice but it is quite dense although I think homemade bread is generally. I do 500g and make a small loaf and 5 bread rolls from that about twice a week.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I inherited a 30 year old kenwood handmixer from my Nan, I burnt out 3 but hers just keeps going. They are definitely an investment.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -

I have a stellar stand mixer atm, which can't cope with the amount of use it gets! I do make bread 3-4 times a week though. My brother has a cheap one too and it seems to do ok if not better than mine.
My loaves are quite dense too and were similar when i made them by hand, I use the white bread recipe from FabulousBaker brothers, and their burger bun recipe for rolls. I also use Nigella's domestic goddess book and the odd paul Hollywood recipe.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -

I do think a kenwood chef would be a real asset to the house as I will be able to make all sorts of things.
I love mine! Only issue is it is really big and heavy and as I haven't got much counter space I gave to lug it in and out of a cupboard. But there's nothing to beat it and one day I will have a bigger kitchen.... one day... :rotfl:Finally had my eyes opened and I am ready to tackle my debts!

Thanks everyone. I have cut up cards that would have allowed me access to £19,000.00 worth of instant credit !!!!!!!!! (I have balance transferred everywhere in the past). This does not include two overdrafts (with '0' balance, that I could run up for another £2,000.00).
What a debt free celebration I could have had with this lot, but the Zombies are not going to tempt me, I know their evil ploys!
I am going to move bank accounts this week to Halifax for the £5.00 a month and £100.00 transfer gift, and close my First Direct Account and Nationwide current accounts down, and make a new fresh and frugal start.
Thanks Kat for showing the way, and creating great challenges x.

Saturday I forgot about my hair appointment so that was £70 gone and then treated myself to several dvd's even though I only wanted one. I don't buy them new though as I don't see the point in paying full price for something that will be in the exchange shops in a couple of weeks for less. Also went into Sainsburys to buy some cat food. I'm sure they'll start to think I'm a mad cat woman soon as I've brought six boxes in two days and plan on buying some more tonight. Its on offer at the moment at 2 for £5 which is good when one box is £3.68 so I;m saving there as long as the daft thing doesn't change his mind about what food he likes.
Sunday I thought I didn't spend anything but remember now that I bought milk. Why does almond milk have to be so expensive!
Today I brought my breakfast and dinner into work and my tea is all prepared ready to be heated up when I get home but still spent money. Bought a big bottle of dilute orange to try and stop me spending £1 a time in the drinks machine and work. Got a carrier bag of bananas as well this morning for 50p which should last me a few days.
Think I'll leave my money at home tomorrow to see how that works. Can't spend it if I don't have it on me! But I was always told its best to have some on you just for emergencies but not sure chocolate counts as emergency.Sealed pot challenge - #1580 -
NSD number 2 is bagged and tagged.
DD wishes to play next door for 20 mins more.
DH is back after 2 weeks away.
Am not back at work til Thurs (instead of weds) as dd has a hosp appointment - her 1 year check after going gluten-free. It falls at an awkward time and we have to go on the bus, so I have the whole day off! Grr am back at work tomorrow eve for y9 parents/options. Oopsie, fancy forgetting such an exciting trip out!
And dh adjusted the mortgage repayments as he now has a job and has been paid. Much relief to be paying it down, not just the interest.
So far, so good! And I think there's a red cabbage in the veggie box - which means just one thing: purple soup!
kat, glad your move went well and that LL ain't there. He must place a lot of trust in you! I know we didn't want you living with a weirdo, but then he doesn't want a weirdo either! And, just how fast were you walking to do it so fast? Or had you miscalculated earlier on?
Off to catch up on some posts. And must remeber to collect dd soon...!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
pinkylds, have you tried making your own almond milk? I have done it in the past and it turned out ok. And is so much cheaper than in the shops, plus you know exactly what's gone into it!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
