One question on NSDs. Do they count if it's just me not spending, or does DH have to have one too??

It's just you that counts so class it as an NSD. I don't think I have mentioned this for a while so thank you for bringing it up.

If DH spends his own money on lunch it's his problem. If you need to give him money - and although he is not paying attention to SFD's you MUST insist on getting it back off him.

Also you cannot, as you rigntly mentioned, ask him to do the shopping to get around a non-SFD. If he offers - that is different as long as he wants no money from you - then you need to politely decline.

He will learn if you stay firm in how you do things. Like a toddler! :rotfl:

  • Evening all! First day drawing to a close and I am claiming an SFD. So I am usually out and about on Saturdays at my friends house but I have come home early to get all my stuff together.

Removal van arrives tomorrow at 1pm so I want everything sorted tonight so I can concentrate on cleaning tomorrow. I still have too much stuff if you ask me but I might continue wittling down items when at the new house and use eBay as much as possible.

I get to inventory all my food tonight - am actually quite excited. I cooked some chilli smoked black beans which I brought to my friends house but also made 4 individual pots for work which are in my freezer - with rice cooked and frozen in 4 other pots ( one doesn't like cross contamination until served) so I need to make some more food and plan accordingly for the week. Banana bread being made tonight as well for snacks as I will be too busy tomorrow to even think about cooking.

Right.. food totals later as I spend some money on Friday in Hey Diddle Lidl, Tescimo's and Holland Barritone...

Onwards and to the boxes we go.....

(Zombie slaying kit at hand don't worry).........Grr!!!

  • Day one off to a mixed start. Planned riding session so exercise 1 down! Went shopping with dd and she asked if she could make me a birthday cake for tomorrow! Picked up a cheap jar of choc spread for topping all other bits in stores....Hurrah money saving educational and cake...... However Dh knew nothing of this and landed home with huge chocolate cake for £6.50!!!!!! cake 2 is now stashed in freezer until Dh birthday later in the month and dd made one for me as planned. Can't be cross as the thought was there but not the best start!

Anyway off horse racing in the village hall tonight, I'm helping on the bar so not planning to gamble honest! It's a way to support without coming home poorer :D

Will update food total later, need to finish of hm pizzas for tea before I go. Re Annabel karmel book try asking at toddlers for one to borrow, that's where I passed mine on. Although there seems to have been a switch from purees to baby led weaning with finger foods since I did it last 4 years ago. I have friends who pur!ed nothing!

Right had better get my skates on!

Day one report. Sorry won't have time to read properly till Monday as were at friends. Only spend a tenner today in a cafe in Aviemore on our way up. The spend 50 quid in Sainsbobs on groceries for the weekend for all of us but got it for free as we used a gift card we got for switching car insurance or similar but we don't use that SM back home.

Will def check in again Monday. Have a great weekend

Hope the move goes well NSK.

Walked the dog to, from and around our local woodland today so a good hour of exercise, kids moaned like mad but I wanted to get him walked before the rain set in again.

Didn't spend anything else aside from the £5 in the butchers today.

I have spent £20 of my grocery budget for the month on an anytime delivery saver pass with Sainsbobs, it lasts for one year and I thought that was excellent value. I won't do a shop every week but even if I only do 20 over the year it is still worth it for all the heavier items. I had already cut my budget so spending this will be a further squeeze.

Have a good Saturday evening, hope everyone is keeping dry.

    Hi all

well did the big shop for the month, so will add up the totals later.

Just popped on to say good luck with the move tomorrow Kat.

LittleSkintDragon - I too used the Annabel Karmel cookbook too but to be honest the best ones to start with are apple, pear, sweet potato, and carrot. Once my kids got used to those I made the same as us but with Heinz stock cubes of specifically made for babies. A portion of lamb casserole, shepherds pie, fish pie, bolognaise all pureed up etc lasts weeks as you freeze it in ice cube trays and just use one or two at a time. Google her recipies and you get quite a lot on her website. The Heinz (I think) porridge packs are great to start their day with as a pack lasts quite a while and you can normally get them on offer. Hope that helps.
  • Haven't had chance to sort my budget but will sort later once the kids have gone to bed cos they won't give me a minutes peace.
With regards the annabel karmel book, I used it first time round but with my second I did baby led weaning and man was it easier. Has also meant my youngest is more of a varied eater than my eldest.
Spend day, I had a wobble earlier and ended up buying chocolate in the shop........was at crisis point! L2B.x
