No receipt = no rights ??

Ohh and those that are woe is me at the poor ickle retailer at having to do extra work to give the consumer their rights under SOGA.
Back in the day when I worked in retail to get me through studies.
This is the late 90's now when online records were all in their infancy. Wi-fi was a twinkle in my eye.
Using digits off the card number, would drag all receipts up in seconds. 6 years worth.
No card number? No problem a rough date so you'd then search which took a few more seconds.
Also let's not forget now...with the tv example you can't buy a tv without giving your address. It makes it even easier to find the corresponding receipt.
No wonder so many people don't know their rights. Stores try and fob them off, so you have to stand your ground. Then when MSE and Martin always say no receipt=no rights is false. People come to the consumer rights part of his site and get rubbish advice!0 -
"But that's kind of irrelevant anyway as by the time it gets to claiming TESCO will "find" the receipt. Then offer a full remedy as being so obtuse and trying to diddle people who've lost the receipt"
I'm sure this is what is going to happen.....................
( adds smug smiley thing).....

Hopefully with op getting his remedy once tesco make the effort to get the receipt up, will take someone all of ten seconds.
Then anyone else who has a faulty item and hasn't got a receipt, who googles and comes across this thread.
If they post and are sneered at or told it's not the retailers responsibility to find out how much they paid.
They'll realise that the key is perseverance and if it comes to it, they can confidently take small claims action.0 -
" not the retailers responsibility" how many people actually said that?0

If fact the op was told numerous times to contact the H.O. -repeatedly.

my problem is not that the retailer needs to do the extra work, but that often this extra work being demanded from the wrong people.
A basic cashier at a supermarket, does not have the power to deal with such requests, yet they are the ones that are often targeted by customers.
i admit i dont have much sympathy for customers, but thats mainly due to how i was treated when in retail, including both verbal and physical assualt.0 -

There is no need for popcorn. You and some old stalwarts of the board, were wholly incorrect or just out of order for being so off with op. For whatever reason. He only wants his consumer rights to a full remedy. Stating in this case no receipt=no rights. It's right you should be called out on incorrect information. It's not just the op who will read the thread, so will others who use google. Who maybe having problems with a different company, whose head office are just as bad as the stores.
For anyone reading. There is also clarification on this site and other consumer help sites, which will highlight your rights and contradict the bad advice in this thread. Don't give up, even if head office say no can do.
So I won't get drawn in to your diversion tactics, to cover up the fact you and others were wrong. You seem to want to get drawn into an argument, not sure why? You were rude to the op and gave out incorrect advice. As two people have highlighted to you. Is it a case of you shout and scream and mock enough, trying to start an argument....you'll forget your advice was utterly incorrect?
You said try head office. That's the only good part of the post. Yes they will probably resolve it. Not everyone will be so lucky. So the rest of that post is totally incorrect. It's not all he could do, he could lodge a small claim and it's not a case of he has no rights in this case because of no receipt.
Maybe don't give out incorrect information in future or be so snippy on a consumer rights forum where it would seem the idea is, people.....ermmmm....get help with obtaining their consumer rights. Not given incorrect information.
So you can put the popcorn away and know for next time as two people have pointed out..Your title asks no receipt -no rights?
The answer is-in this case is -correct.
This is false. Have a great day :beer:0 -

You chose not to respond...?
Another thing you've not done is quote the European court of human right, yet..
As repeatedly stated by many is the op should contact head office( not rush to the small claims court as advised by you)
Love the selective quotes btw..
Anyone googling will see the best advice-CONTACT HEAD OFFICE..
Such a long thread just to reiterate that!
