Hi I am hoping someone may beable to help me as my last chance.
My mum bought me a digital tv recorder for xmas...... we have found it to be faulty, so as my mum couldnt find the receipt toook it back to TESCOS to see if we could exchange it... there is a big tesco sticker across it from when she bought it.
Took ot to customer services to be told withourt a receipt they could only give me the price it now was which was £5 Thats right £5 this item cost £169.99 and they want me to accept £5.
got my mum to track when she bought it on her bank statement... take this as proof of purchase to the shop to be told they can only track the last 30 days and would need to call electrical customer services who can track it down and send me a new receipt. They ring to tell me they are unable to track my purchase and as when this item was bought other things were bought therefore giving a different amount they could not do anything about it.
I cannot believe that 1) they cannot trace an item when they have the date /shop and till it was bought at and 2) that they are not attempting to resolve this matter.
does ANYONE please HELP ??????:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Did she use her clubcard? Apparently this has been used before to look up the transaction date when people have lost receipts.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

That's a rather high reduction in price...0

NO no clubcard unfortunately. yes they admit no will have been bought for £5 its a discontinued item which apparantly is why it comes up at 50

You shouldn't be mad at them-it's the customer who lost the receipt.0

I've found this for £10 http://www.tesco.com/direct/dion-dtr500ss11-500gb-freeview-dtr/211-5543.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=211-5543
Can't see a £5 one?0 -

I cannot believe you are getting so excited at Tesco at a problem that is essentially your, or your mother's, fault.
It is not Tesco's fault that you are unable to confirm to them the purchase price, is it?0 -
If you dont wanna help dont reply ... i dont wanna end up in a argument
Thanks very much0 -
The bank statement should be sufficient proof of purchase. And I suspect the item's barcode and/or serial number on the box would allow it to be traced? However they do NOT have to give a refund ... they could repair or replace if they wished. (They can choose whichever remedy is least costly to them. If they are retailing them for £5 now then I'm surprised they wouldn't just give an exchange).
It seems though that your Mum (not you, you have no place in this as the contract was between your Mum and Tesco) will have to write them a Letter Before Action to get them to kick their behinds into gear.
Or try emailing/writing to head office?0 -
