Job Centre checking on interview?
Comments
-
My nephew received a phone call to say he didn't get the job but he didn't ask why.
When I haven't got job I have never asked why not - it seems rude to me.
Most vacancies now have lots of applicants so there could be many reasons why someone doesn't get offered the job.
He doesn't particularly have a problem with the job centre advisor ringing to ask why he didn't get it - it's me that thinks it seems out of order. To me it seems as though they want to check he did actually go for an interview and I would have thought the company would think it odd for them to ring and ask about it.
There must be lots of people claiming JSA who genuinely go for interviews but don't get offered a job - do the advisers seriously spend time checking up on them all?
It seems odd to me he wouldn't have asked why he never got it.
The JC want to see what is stopping him getting a job I guess and seems very reasonable.
There are many applying but not many get the interview.
Think of it as not checking up but seeing if he needs help. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The JC don't send people to interviews and the JC don't advertise jobsGothicStirling wrote: »I don't blame them. The amount of times I've heard employers complaining of the people sent from the job centre who just turn up at interviews, with no interest of getting a job.
Hence why no decent employers use the JC anymore. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I agree, chances are it was only a buff and they won't call.
as for asking for feedback...pointless in my opinion, most times you get interviewed by someone that reads the questions of a prepared questionnaire, hardly experts to be giving feedback that I would rely on.
They'll problem tell you any old rubbish.
My last but one interview, the interviewer took a phonecall in the middle of the interview asking her partner to buy wine for the party there were having...sorry but I should have been giving the feedback in that case :rotfl:0 -

What types of jobs are these then? Not all jobs interviews are like that in fact none I have ever had were like that. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

min wage mostly :rotfl:
I agree tho, depends what the work is and how much faith you give to the interviewer.
I'm just sick of hearing on here and at the JSA to get feed back, without them qualifying that with if the interviewer is of a standard you would be happy to take constructed feedback from.
You must be in a different league to me

Why would they try and frighten the OP nephew, he went to the interview but didnt ask for more feedback as to the reasons he didnt get the job.
because if she/he really was just being helpful, surely she/he would have explained why it was so important and asked the person to ring for feedback themselves, but no they threaten them with I'LL DO IT.0
