  • re your goal of University - do you need to take 5 A Levels? What do you want to study at Uni? It is possible (and quite possibly cheaper) to do an Access course over 1 year that many Universities will accept.

I looked into doing the access course a couple of years ago. Unfortunately the help with the course fees has been slashed in recent years.

But definitely look into it as it does give you enough points to go to uni.

I did the access course. The uni here doesn't accept A-levels over 3 years old and if you completed them over the age of 21 they demand you do the access course as well to prove you can complete full time (min. 16 hours a week) uni hours whereas Alevels are only 4 hours a week each

I was told that as long as you had done relevant, recent study (A levels/Access) in the last three years that was ok as it was proof you could cope with a heavy workload! I didn't matter what age you were.

I guess its best to check the uni's criteria for entry as it sounds as though they are all different.

Just got in from work, lovely day here :)

I need to ask you all a question..........................

I need a new Dy$on, I've always had an upright one but I'm not sure whether to go for a ball one or a cylinder one? I would appreciate your thoughts.

    Thank you

    The robot WORKS!

DS had a RAD robot which didn't sell on a car boot which I did - over 10 years ago (I know that because I was still with the OH then!) so we shoved it, box and all, in the attic.

Well after allowing it to acclimatise to temp (thus avoiding condensation problems;)), charging the power pack and sourcing a PP9 battery for the controller we have power.

I intend to use it for Space Week at work - not sure exactly how but there can be, at least, some robot-inspired junk modelling!

Only thing is I hate the thing, it gives me the heebie-jeebies...I am not keen on dolls or animated things anyway. DS has already chased me with it this morning :rotfl:

On a flying note I have washing out, yesterday's has been ironed and, before I went to bed I washed up (20 plastic 'champagne' flutes for a start) and put the DW on. DD, DS and DS's GF have been being 'bossed' to get dressed for the last hour as other members of my family were travelling to Bolton yesterday from Essex (FlyladyFlower town) for my Uncles' 80th and a couple of cousins are dropping in on my mum en route back down south. We had to cry off as were were out celebrating DDs 18th. Ex OH paid for his and his fiancees meal and made a contribution towards drinks (faints with shock).. DD got a card off her dad...shame it was late.

I am in the middle of doing a meal plan (first time in about 3yrs) and an online shop from Tesco's. Its hard going and I keep stopping but then I get a mental image of flying ladies brandishing sticks so I start up again!! lol I'm going to start following the lists properly from tomorrow. Wish me luck :D

Daftbat Welcome! I'm sure you will love it here with us all.

Went for my walk which took 55 minutes. Felt better afterwards.

I've tackled the litter and some of the moss problem in the front garden. Washed front windows and door.

Ozzy has retreated under my quilt which is quite unusual for him.

Hope everyone is having a great time in York.

Daftbat welcome aboard, you'll fit in just fine and don't worry about what you post, if you've been lurking you'll have seen some of the drivel on here ;):p

Wash 1 on the line, Wash 2 about to go out there. DH has decluttered something on freecyle, all bedding from the LR removed.

I'm going to pop to town next to get a couple more bits for DS3's birthday and the ingredients for his cooking this week then I will do my ebay listing when back, the though of no ironing tonight is very appealing.

    Afternoon everyone :)

bossymoo I'm sure you'll soon have plenty of company. I will look forward to reading about how much fun you all have.

    Daftbat Welcome

Lamewolf Greetings on your special day. Enjoy your festivities.

So I've mostly been lurking and fluttering quietly for the last couple of weeks. Felt very guilty when you all deep cleaned your living rooms this week while mine is still

Finally went to the doctor. Reason I have no guag - I have a virus :(
At least that explains why the constant fatigue has returned, and the irritating cough. Doc recommends hot toddays  and said come back at the eight week mark if I'm still coughing - although that probably won't change the diagnosis.

Hugs, sticks, snow and sunshine where required.

I'll be lurking, flying quietly, and perhaps posting a wee bit too next week.

I have frequent visits from what I think you call BD (Black Dog? ...as with Churchill?) and social anxiety problems. I don't go out, answer the door, use the phone and hardly see anyone other than my son. I find it very hard to communicate, even writing, a lot of the time - this message has taken me about 2 hours upto now.
You're not my long-lost sibling, are you by any chance?:D You just described me, except I don't have a son, just a DH.:o Such is my aversion to phones that I leave the room if DH is using the phone! Don't worry, we're all as mad as a box of frogs here.;)

Not a happy Wolf today, really; the coffee filter machine has turned up its toes. Now, if you know anything about me, you'll know I can't start the day until I've had at least my second mug of coffee. Anyways, we managed to source a replacement in Argoose, and Mr LW has just been down there to collect it, so at least I should be able to function tomorrow.:D Thing is, the toaster died a week or so ago (it's been replaced) so I wonder what the third appliance is going to be?

Piggers your Dad is younger than my DH. I hope he enjoys his birthday.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
