The first time I looked at this it terrified me, but I keep peeking at it from behind the sofa.

Last week I spent a couple of hours sorting out the smallest bedroom - ended up with eight loads of bedding and curtains to wash (then wondered why my arms felt like they had been pulled out of their sockets).

On Monday I spent 5 hours doing DS3's room (he went into university - 3 weeks Christmas holidays, 2weeks exams/he didn't have any, one week free and now the tutors are on strike). If he doesn't have to go in, he reverts to being nocturnal, he only comes out of his room to eat or go in the bath - and he still takes his laptop into the bathroom. So although I hurt all over, I kept going because I don't know when I will get in there again.

So I would like to join you, please, as long as I can sit down now and again. A year ago I would have been out of breath after 15 minutes mopping, so I have to keep focusing on the positive and how far I have come and not on the things that I am still struggling to do..

Welcome Mothernerd, I too was terrified when first encountering flylady but its really supportive and you only do what you can do. A little all the time makes a big difference long term.

Well ladies, I am up early as I couldn't sleep. A combination of DH coming back home after leaving at 4.30 (think he took the wrong keys initially, sure I will hear all about it later), and a lot on my mind - a frog which has now been eaten, and a tough meeting later today at the paid stuff, and a tough day's paid stuff ahead anyway. I know it will all be alright, but I still couldn't sleep.

So, I've eaten that frog, had breakfast, will just spend a few minutes on PC, then get dressed, dust our bedroom, walk the dogs and see if there's any time left to do something from the list.

Have a great day everyone. I'm really looking forward to the Sunday flymeet. DS and DD think I'm mad meeting strangers from t'internet, breaks every rule I've ever given them!!

Welcome mothernerd - you can come out now!scared0016.gif

Love the 'focus on the positive' attitude - tis the way of Valli!

Just popping in as I have had to pay for my TOM JONES ticket! Yup - the boyo's coming to Valliland.

Might not get on later what with birthday parties et al but if you watch Mastermind one of my friends from way back, now a FB friend, is on tonight. She's answering on MR James. It's a closely-guarded secret so I don't know how she does.

Have a fab friday one and all (and enjoy this afternoon FBO)

I met my DH on the internet; we corresponded via a very reputable introductions website for only 3 weeks (but intensively - he said the Spanish Inquisition could not have been worse ;)) before we met in person: it was 5 years ago yesterday. I laid down some ground rules for our first date which he readily agreed to:
    - I would tell someone where I was going (I told my DD, who thought I was mad) and give them his details from the website (neither of us knew the other's home address at that point) and the contact phone number he had given me for the meeting
    - I would not accept flowers , chocolates or any other gift from him on the first date (didn't want to be under any obligation to him)
    - we would each pay for our own drinks and food
    - we would stay in a public space: I would not get into any car or taxi with him, though public transport was OK
    - I would meet him for an hour, which could be extended if I felt comfortable, but each of us also had the option to pull out at any time.

The same sort of rules apply to Flymeets - it's all to do with respecting other people's privacy and being sensible about personal safety.

Our first date went far better than either of us had hoped and extended to 3 hours - I only left because my elderly dog would have been crossing his legs (I had an hour's train journey there and back, so it was a long time for him to be shut in) - and we met up again a week later for about 5 hours. On our third meeting we talked about getting married, and that happened within a year of our first meeting! Today is my DH's birthday :A
    :bdaycake:

It's good to teach children rules, but it's also good to demonstrate to them how and when rules can be safely relaxed.

Jazee, give your DS and DD my mobile number and tell them to pass it on to the police if you don't get home by midnight :D

I need to fly for about 3 hours before we pack the car and head north :j Must remember to take my phone charger :p

    Good morning.

Not a lot done yesterday except for shopping and dailies. I was going to tackle the other large cupboard in the kitchen but felt tired. It was a dark day too which didn't help. So I watched the afternoon film.

The rest of living room will get finished tomorrow while my bathroom is being done. Today I've got Reflexology first thing then at my voluntary job.

Seems a few people needing big hugs so they winging they way to you all. Sticks and spoons where needed too.

Welcome mothernerd this is a lovely thread so don't hide anymore.

I met my first b/f over the internet at the age of 16!!!! I told no-one but we ended up going out for 2years.

I met my current OH online also haha I didn't have a webcam so he never actually seen me in motion.....I never told anyone about that either at the age of 18!!!!

I think i am far too trusting, I have had b/f I have met at work but splitting up with people you seen for 39 hours a week is hard, I have had b/f met through friends too.

I have been up since 4 with dd coughing she is now asking to go the PC so I think she might be feeling better. I have done two loads of washing and cleaned the kitchen, having lots of little people in my care doesn't leave a huge amount of time for the bigger cleaning jobs.

    Have a nice day all.

Morning all, feeling a bit groggy still but will take it easy today (well thats if the paid stuff is not too demanding).

Went to bed early then DS2 woke me up to tell me he thinks he has nits! Bless him he has been itching for ages but didnt want to say anything. Out came the nit comb and I found 3 huuge critters in his hair and a couple of smaller ones  - and I took him to the hairdressers the other day so they must have seen something.

So there I am feeling rubbish, sitting on the bathroom floor with him wet combing his hair at 10pm last night. Now I am itching too but I am sure its my imagination. Off to the chemist to get some stuff to nuke them later.

What a week! Welcome mothernerd, baby steps all the way. Hugs to Lozzy for BIL. Glad you are feeling a bit more positive Decko.

Off to get moving and get ready for work.

Bossy.. has DD hit the same stage as Squeak?

Thanks pp I knew you would reassure me! I think you have the point there, it would seem now that on putting her into bed, she's remembered an unpleasant dream. DD has always struggled "down there" since her milk intolerance. She's on medication for it but rarely we mess up and she can get in a bit of a state. And a few morning ago she did get up crying, desperate for the toilet :o

I asked her this morning if her bottom was ok and she said "yes why?" :rotfl:

    Kids!

Why does everything seem worse when you're home alone in the dark???

Anyway, moving on... They are just having breakfast. I'm going to GIVE HER THE MEDICINE haha then get DS off to school. Then I'm back in the conservatory with my bags. Today I'm tackling books and games...

    welcome to mothernerd

lozzy so sorry to hear about your BIL, must be an awful shock to get a diagnosis like that.

hugs good wishes and positive vibes to all who need them

got some mending to do today DS1s jeans, DD3 has asked me to mean a bra the tumble dryer singed, i dont know if it will be possible, and Dh has a hole in his fave t shirt, i think its dying of old age to be honest hes had it years - i would say BER (beyond economical repair) but i'll do it once next time its in the rag bag;)
still have some ironing, but lounge is looking and feeling much better after this weeks efforts.

Reception Room (Living Room/Dining Room/Conservatory) Declutter
Imagine how you would like the room to be at the end of the week.

Rehome anything which does not belong in this room to its correct place (if it doesn't have a home then this is part of your problem, you need to find it one or question if you really need it ). if there was a nodding smilie it would be inserted here. my prob is definately more stuff than space. i have vowed not to buy more wool or cross stitching stuff till ive used up what i have and because we have a small kitchen the ironing pile/basket is stored in the lounge so if its not kept under control it can take over unless hidden in one of the rooms upstairs.

    Reception Room Declutter
Wash any soft furnishing that need it.

Reception Room - Let the deep Clean begin
Time to sort out book shelves, DVDs, CDs etc. Give the shelves a good sort. Do you need them all. This is a work in progress DH is having to go through them with me as most are his

Reception Room - Finishing the deep clean

How are you doing with the pile of stuff left to sort? Remove at least 3 more things from this pile and deal with them.

    Fabulous Friday Basics
    Eat a frog
Have some me time, just 10 minutes with your feet up and a cuppa and book/mag if that is all you can manage but you must do something just for you.

    Reception Room Finish Off
Hopefully you are all done and dusted and can now enjoy your new space, if not fancy one last push today to see what you can achieve?
[STRIKE]If you are done how about cleaning the windows to let the sunshine through[/STRIKE].
Get as much of the stuff you are donating/selling/rehoming out of the house today or at least this weekend to finish the job off.

If you haven't got as far as you would have liked then rejoice in the fact that you have made progress and plan for when you can do a little bit more.
still have a cupboard under the stairs full of my craft stash to sort, as well as the storage area under the tv shelves - thats DH book and stuff stash so he needs to help with that

    my list
[STRIKE]scouts tonight check all stuff ready[/STRIKE]
    clear ironing pile again
[STRIKE]funeral to go to this week, [/STRIKE]
80th birthday party, get card and pres sorted.
[STRIKE]ring insurance if no email by friday.[/STRIKE]all sorted
    [STRIKE]meeting after work tomorrow[/STRIKE]

whats the best/easiest way to 'do a Venetian blind please

Just seen this. Having tried lots of things the only way that really works for me is hoovering the worst of the dust off by shutting them then reversing them and then wiping each slate individually with a damp cloth

    Morning all

Everybody away to work and school. Need to have my shower and car should be being collected for MoT - tax due which is how I knew it had run out yesterday (deja vu).

Need to be at school for a meeting by midday, a little paperwork to sort for that so a bitty day.
