Welcome to the flylady thread no invitation needed just jump in and start posting.

If you need help getting your house in order, dealing with your clutter and getting the cleaning done then you're in the right place.

Plan for this week is to concentrate on one reception room starting with decluttering and tidying and moving on to deep cleaning. Along side this we shall aim to keep on top of the basic flying.

If you would rather do 'normal flying' here is a link to this week in 2013 for you to use instead (but please feel free to post on here as usual)

HHC Half Hour Challenge
WM Washing Machine
DW Dishwasher
TD Tumble Dryer

Marvellous Monday Basics
Wipe the kitchen sides (just what you can see)
Clean the kitchen sink, slosh some soda crystals and hotwater down
Hoover and mop the floor

Reception Room (Living Room/Dining Room/Conservatory) Declutter
Today's aim is to deal with everything you can see without opening drawers/cupboards, or looking behind sofas.
Imagine how you would like the room to be at the end of the week.

Start by putting all rubbish and recycling in the bins outside of the room.
Take any cups, plates etc (along with stray bottles of tomato sauce) into the kitchen for washing.
Recycle any newspapers, magazines etc which are laying around, will you really get around to reading them?

Rehome anything which does not belong in this room to its correct place (if it doesn't have a home then this is part of your problem, you need to find it one or question if you really need it - small children not included).

The first 30 minutes is usually the most successful so get off to a good start and then have a break or your ability to make decisions will decrease.

So if the floor now clear? If not carry on for as long as you can.

Have a quick hoover around the middle of the room (we'll move the furniture later in the week.

Tremendous Tuesday Basics
S&S toilets and sinks
Hoover and mop the bathroom floor
shine mirrors

Reception Room Declutter
Today's aim is to deal with all the stuff that is hidden away under the sofa, in cupboards and drawers and stuffed in corners. Concentrate on one area at a time.

Before looking in/under ask yourself what you think is in there and do you need it.
Empty everything out, how much of the stuff had you remembered was there?
Hoover or dust inside/underneath
Don't just blindly put it all back if you didn't know it was there do you need it?

Wash any soft furnishing that need it.
15 minutes reading some of the pile of magazines/newspapers etc - see if one can now be recycled, passed on.

Wonderful Wednesday Basics
Hoover Hall, stairs and landing
Change a bed
Deal with any urgent paperwork - tax return/car tax?

Reception Room - Let the deep Clean begin

Time to sort out book shelves, DVDs, CDs etc. Give the shelves a good sort. Do you need them all. Which haven't been looked at for years. If you've got lots to get rid of you can make a decent amount scanning and selling them. Dust the shelves and on top of them - I sometimes use the hoover brush for this especially on top of books.

Start high up and work down so that dust does not fall on areas you have already done
Ceiling first - I hoover mine but you could use a sheep on a stick
Next wipe the picture rail if you have one
Dust/wipe/hoover or take outside and shake the light shade, wipe the bulb (check it is cool first)
Curtains and cushions either hoover them, take them outside and shake and bash them or give them a wash all depending on care instructions.
Any pictures carefully remove from the wall and dust the back of, give the wall a wipe where they have been.
Dust behind the radiator - put an old sock on a a sturdy stick if you don't have a radiator brush.

We will finish the cleaning tomorrow.

Thursday Basics
S&S toilets and sinks
15 minutes dealing with hotspots/putting things away
Hoover anywhere in need

Reception Room - Finishing the deep clean
Remove cushions from sofa and hoover underneath - what did you find?
Hoover wipe all the cushions, plump and replace.
Pull out any furniture you safely can and hoover behind it, dust the walls, wipe the skirting boards and replace
Wipe any doors, skirting and furniture with a damp cloth
Wash any ornaments carefully in the sink - no you want to put them all back or is is just habit? Do you want that dusty pot pourri or silk flowers?

How are you doing with the pile of stuff left to sort? Remove at least 3 more things from this pile and deal with them.

Fabulous Friday Basics
Eat a frog
Have some me time, just 10 minutes with your feet up and a cuppa and book/mag if that is all you can manage but you must do something just for you.

Reception Room Finish Off
Hopefully you are all done and dusted and can now enjoy your new space, if not fancy one last push today to see what you can achieve?
If you are done how about cleaning the windows to let the sunshine through.
Get as much of the stuff you are donating/selling/rehoming out of the house today or at least this weekend to finish the job off.

If you haven't got as far as you would have liked then rejoice in the fact that you have made progress and plan for when you can do a little bit more.
The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair

Dusty, how long have you had this marvellous psychic ability? My sitting room is where the most dot-to-dotting has taken place and while it's looking better than it did, more needs to be done. So, please count me in for this week and thanks to you and Natty for respective lists.

Just realised - this is my 100th post!

Thank you Dusty for the new list and to Natty for last week's delights.

I have spent much of the weekend sorting out the study bedroom cupboard and desk and have still not finished. Too easily distracted, perhaps? :o

A short week for me as we're going oop north for the long weekend :)

Watch out for a post later this week about the MEET in York next Sunday. I am typing on my Kindle right now and it is driving me potty !!! Need to use a proper keyboard :(

Thanks Dusty for the list. Are you spying on me? I did quite a few of those jobs today :rotfl: Only thing that needs doing is the vacuuming. I'm going to treat bookshelves as cupboards

DD is under orders to do her homework at the dining table tomorrow with no TV "for background noise" or music. I've just been through her browsing history and noticed how many "what character from xyz are you?" quizzes and games she's been doing instead of homework. So filters changed to "Only allowed list" which consists of the school website and wikip3dia, any other websites she wants to visit I'll need to put my password in ;) I'm not normally this strict over her web time, but she is really pushing my buttons between taking forever to do the homework & her attitude so lock down it is! I might just leave it this way until half-term. ;)

So tomorrow I will be ironing, flying in the kitchen from last weeks list and will probably do an hour or so of paid stuff as well. I'll post a list tomorrow when I get up, but for now I should really head for bed. I didn't realise how late it is!

Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!

I'm about.. not sure how 'in' we are BUT.. OH has been persuaded to go to the gym.. gets him out of the house and at £100 for the year isn't prohibitively expensive.. his mum gave him that much for Christmas so I guess that is covered. SO.. I may have 6 whole hours to clean and fling with just me, Dot and Pixie.. I CAN get some of this stuff done at this level of just me-ness.. I really struggle when he is here.

Kh is elevated to FT (flufftard) for the foreseeable.. I got screamed at in the street when I said I wanted the children for our annual family gathering on 26th od December, which has been my family's tradition for the last 60 years!! it just happened that I was also born on that date .. apparently my birthday is insignificant and I cannot demand to have the children on that day.. to FT .. demanded to have the children this weekend.. 3 of the 6 at home went.. and it was his birthday yesterday and he had a party.. like a child.. at his house starting at 8pm!!! With drunken adults and him so drunk he could barely stand with MY children around them and kept them up until 1am!!!!!!! (these are 13, 11 and 9 year olds!!) .. I am livid.. Poor Moomin is looking really unwell.. so ill in fact I am thinking of checking her bloods for diabetes.. just what I need a second with that! and if that looks ok I am taking her to the quack asap.. there is something not 100% with her. If it is diabetes I am taking her straight to the hospital rather than the quack.

Bed time in here.. just need to sort Squeaks uniform and OH needs to dilute their juice.
