Well I did say that of course starnac :rotfl: but it seems people are already fitting central heating for old people or something, and I'm quite capable of either buying an electric kettle or just going out for a cuppa :rotfl: Two of them couldn't come til Tuesday!!

How rude of vulnerable old people, depriving you of a cup of tea :rotfl:

On a serious note. Your electric bill is going to go up with electric heaters and kettles and suchlike  good job you are saving on your gas bil ;)

Well I was going to say I won't use the electric heater once the gas is fixed - but actually it's the one I have in the attic and use ALL DAY whenever I work at home! No central heating up there :o

Best get on the case fixing those draughts!!

Fortunately I have found a cheery gas bloke (on the recommendation of a pal) who is working round the corner this afternoon and agreed to pop in and take a look :j :j

Just got time to pop into town to deposit change in bank (and buy emergency kettle for the next time this happens!) :j

Er, I forgot the emergency kettle :o:o :rotfl: But fortunately Mr Cheery informed me we could make a passable cuppa in the microwave - which we've now done :j :j

On a roll today :D Bought another 3 Christmas presents :j Sorting out the nonsense with the gas stuff (bloke will be here at 4 ish), finished lopping down the tree so the roofer can get in - and then also rang the roofer :j

Now on the phone to the bank I took out the new ISA with - they left a message asking me to ring the other day (presumably because I haven't paid any money in yet - although technically I've still got another couple of weeks). Anyway, need to speak to them anyway as they've missed a letter out of my surname...

Might make another microwave tea :D

Turns out they were ringing because the surname on my account didn't match the surname on the 'nominated account' i'd given them... :rotfl:

gas bloke here now and I confess he's got my back up already sucking through his teeth and saying things like 'oooh that boiler's ancient love' and 'that gas isn't coming through to your cooker properly, you'll be needing a new one soon' and 'that bloke must have installed the smart meter wrong'

Done lots of turning things off and on again and now cooker is on but working far worse than when we put it on a minute ago before this bloke started fiddling

    Yawn yawn yawn

'Dave' and assistant have left, having turned the gas on and off a lot of times and finally turned it back off altogether.

Apparently cooker isn't leaking - but the gas isn't coming through properly so he won't turn it back on (and it's exactly the same as it's been for YEARS so this isn't recent). Boiler is leaking somewhere - possibly the valve that someone else fitted a few years ago after BG condemned the whole thing.

They left saying 'to be honest love, you need a new cooker and a new boiler'... At least they only asked £10 for diesel (although technically they were 2 mins walk round the corner, but I didn't feel it was fair not to give them anything!)

    Yawn yawnity yawn yawn.

    So.

Do I ring the bloke who said he could come tomorrow? He told me to ring him in the morning so I still could. Would he say any different?!

Or do I wait for one of my nice plumbers to be free next week??

Think we're going to take the treats budget and go out for tea and then to the pictures - at least it's warm there! :rotfl:

Oh no cheery! How terrible! I'd probably ring the other guy but only because the other guy didn't sound terribly helpful. Hope microwaved tea wasn't too bad. I have been known to microwave a cuppa that has gone cold but I haven't actually made one from scratch in there.

    Wrap up warm tonight x

Tis quite acceptable starnac, you just boil the water in it and proceed as normal :)

Lovely pal offered us a travel kettle :j :j Picked it up then went to the cinema to FINALLY use some of these groupon cinema vouchers i bought in September (they run out 19th Dec!) Sadly it wasn't to be - instead I instigated a large parking-related squabble and actually drove off and left Mr (not very, by this point) Cheery in the middle of the town centre... :o:o

By the time i parked and found him again we'd missed the start of the fim by half an hour :o

All wasn't lost though as we ended up in the independent cinema watching the James Brown film :D

Which means we've STILL got five pesky cinema vouchers to use before 19th December :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Remind me not to fall for that one again!! :rotfl:

Sweet dreams all, thanks for sympathising with my saga today :o :rotfl:

Oh Cheery! I wasn't online at all yesterday, and missed all this :( I'm glad Starnac was here :j:j:j

It really seems true that once you start something going, lots and lots more gets uncovered :(

How do things stand at the moment?
