Thank you TDQ and Redo - nice to see you both :j

Paid solicitor and removals today - estate agent fee is included in what we paid to the solicitor, and I think all other upfront costs are done now :j

Not cheap this moving house malarkey is it??

    £1650 estate agents fee
£1800 solicitor (including searches and land registry etc)
    £750 survey
    £1080 removals
    £10.7k stamp duty
    = £15,980
    (or £5280 without stamp duty)

I know we didn't have to buy such an expensive house :o and I don't begrudge any of it, but it doesn't half add up  I don't know how people manage it who move every couple of years  If I have anything to do with it we won't be moving for at least 25 years now :rotfl:

Tried to set up a YNAB budget for the new house, but got myself all confused :o cos I want it to start on the day we move, but I also want it to include things for the new house that we've already paid for, like LPG and house insurance. Still scratching head about what to set up and when :rotfl:

    Thank you lovely people :hello:

Four more sleeps

This week is just speeding by  I am rushed off feet at work and every night when I come home yet more boxes have appeared and downstairs looks more like a warehouse now

Nothing else money wise to report. Done nearly all the necessary address changing - some stuff can wait til we've gone fortunately.

Will need to ring car insurance at the weekend, but as so many other things are going to change I'll get a new quote too (will be commuting, off road parking, and we'll be getting another car - possibly going to see one at the weekend when removals have been which will be handy as we'll be able to switch insurance for both at the same time)

Also need to sort out life insurance to pay the mortgage off if one of us dies

Excited, but also terrified :o and desperately trying not to ruin our existing house before the new people move in  :rotfl: :rotfl:

    :hello:

First removals van (which is taking the vast majority of stuff) will be here in less than 3 hours  needless to say the house is a tip, there is plenty of stuff not packed (but we can do the last few boxes of tiny things/kitchen stuff over the weekend), and more vexingly despitenow owning two cars, we have failed to park the damn things next to each other so there's curre tly nowhere for removals van to park

So, bought a new car the other day  been on the lookout for a cheap runaround for a while as while we manage perfectly well with one between us in the city, out in the sticks if one of us went out, the other would be confined to barracks as the nearest bus stop is 2 miles away and only runs about 4 times a day :rotfl: although I have recently learned there is a dial a ride service so that should help :D

New car cos £595, and also paid £25 for a day insurance policy to test drive, £15 for an RAC check to check it wasn't stolen etc, and £22 to add to ohr existing insurance policy for a week.

Current insurance don't do multi car policies and wanted to start a new quote from scratch but as we're moving house I told them to bog off, add it just temporarily, and I'll start all over again ready for Monday at the new address (needless to say, I won't be starting all over again with them :rotfl: )

It's £30 to tax, and has an MOT til next January so not too bad. Must add it to the breakdown cover policy though (might see if I can just get that in with car insurance for both).

Got someone coming out to put all season tyres on old car on Tuesday.. :o not sure if this is necessary but I am SUCH a fusspot about driving in snow and ice :o and I'd rather feel a bit more reassured :o especially it looks like we'll be pretty much getting snowed in on the day after we move  :rotfl:

Right, suppose I'd best get up and crack on, Mr cheery is already pottering about downstairs...

Hope all goes well with the move, good thinking about the all weather tyres, fingers crossed that the weather proves to be kinder than forecast.
