Indeed RT - I felt the same! :j :j
Sun's shining now but it was snowing earlier - brrrr. Breakfasted in the cafe (at some point we'll rein that back in at some point, likely when we move...) and now at home trying to tick a few things off the list. Packed a box of books :j but then Mr Cheery went off for a nap so I had to stop banging round upstairs :rotfl:
Wrote a blog post, and now I'm about to watch a documentary and see if I can finish off knitting these blithering socks so we can post them off to our friends in Germany :j0 -
I also can't believe that the great house-moving saga is STILL trundling along!
Good work on the insurance and tax reclaiming thing though - albeit annoying that the insurance didn't work out to tie in with the move.
Guessing the cafe habit will sort itself out fairly naturally when you move and it's not so easy to just amble out and go to one? :rotfl:🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

That's what I'm hoping
also hoping new house will feel sufficiently like we're on holiday for a while :rotfl: although we are rather partial to cafes on holiday  :rotfl:
But to be honest, we very rarely eat out in the evening, maybe spend £20 on takeaways a month, never drink in a pub, rarely go to the cinema etc so spending £15-20 a weekend between us in cafes doesn't really feel that extravagent:rotfl:

I FINALLY have some proper news - we have exchanged!! :j :j :j :j
Just as I was starting to hope they wouldn't get round to it yesterday and we could renegotiate to early March and save another £1000 before starting the mortgage :rotfl:
But no, our savings will have to stay as they are, for we are moving on 26th - a week on Monday
House insurance is set up, removals are booked, I'll be ringing the LPG people as soon as they open at 8.30 :j
So hard to juggle everything yesterday as I was teaching most of the day and had to keep ringing people as I changed classes at the top of the hour :rotfl: solicitor told me we'd exchanged at 3, so my last too classes I was rather giddy, and I confess had to set then going with a task while I sneaked onto the computer to confirm insurance and removals:rotfl: (they're adults and were quite amused and excited for me :rotfl: )
Busy a lot of today too but the only thing I HAVE to do is sort the LPG, everything else can wait for the weekend.
Removals firm reckon they can't move all our stuff in one day:rotfl: or at least they probabpy could but it might do them in trying :rotfl: I actually respect them for trying to keep their staff relatively healthy! So they're coming next Saturday  which only gives us this one weekend - and on Sunday we're meant to do some building work for Mr Cheery's dad... we considered cancelling, but if we don't do it this weekend it won't be done for weeks as we'll be too busy fixing things in the new house
Anyway, the deal was always that I was in charge of paperwork and bureaucracy in this process, and Mr Cheery was in charge of decorating and packing. I did my share of decorating in the end (although he did the vast majority) but he's going to be pretty much on his own with he packing this week...
We've decided to have tomorrow as our 'last normal day in the new house', then Sunday with his family - then I'll be working my @rse off at work to get all my preparation for this week AND next week done so I can take 3 days off next week, and Mr Cheery will be packing like a demon :j
Gosh it's taken a long time. House went on market early July, sold within a week and we offered on the new one on 9th August. But given that we first went to see the mortgage adviser and had the house valued in January 2015, and started the process of packing and decorating soon after, it feels like it's taken bloody forever! :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Doing one of my occasional de-lurks to offer congratulations, best wishes for the move and life in your new home, it will be a big adventure.:j:j:j:j:j:jThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0

Thank you, lovely people! :kisses3: :kisses3: Lovely to see people delurking too
Come and do it more often!
Booked and paid for LPG delivery today - £390  but given that we apparently used £107 worth of gas here in January it should last us at least a few months
Speaking of gas, just had a link to the utility bill - the website has changed and got even more fancy, and because we have a smart meter, I can see exactly how much gas/electricity we used each day  :rotfl:
So now I know we apparently used £6.51 worth of gas on Wednesday  but only £1.09 on 1st Feb. Were we out all day?! Who knows :rotfl: It even tells me we used £5.46 on lighting in January :rotfl: Is that bad?! Good?! Who knows...
Sadly we don't have any credit after the winter, in fact apparently we owe them £28 :rotfl: So no giant refund coming our way!
Have notified them we're moving out so that's one less thing off the list. I thought we could just change addresses but they ask you to start a whole new quote which got me thinking I might see if my friend has a discount for her/us if we join the same firm as her on her recommendation...
No need to sort that til after we move now though :j0
