Right - first two coats of paint on the plaster, and now I'm out of the way as Mr Cheery is repairing the floorboards ready for me to paint :D

In the meantime I've resealed round the bath, and hopefully that'll be the end of the escaping water  Can't have a shower for a day or two now.

Bummocks - just realised I should really have filled the bath with water before doing it  Might do that now before it dries

    Morning :hello:

Yesterday ended up being quite a grumpy one for various reasons :o but i did get a few things done and in between bouts of DIY also made bread, damson jam and pizza :j love it when making stuff just fits within the normal day :j

Today I will be less grumpy :D suspect I may spend entire day painting kitchen ceiling though as I did the first coat on the easy to reach bits yesterday but now need to start shifting furniture, and then the whole lot will need a second coat, possibly with polyfiller paint. Taking forever with a brush so may need to crack out the roller, much as I loath them :o paint pads may do it but i often end up squeezing giant blobs of paint everywhere so that will entail more furniture moving...

Also need to do bread/soups/snacks to freeze for work lunches and do meal plan & shopping list, and maybe even pop to shop if we don't need much.

Must do banks/ynab too - barely spent anything though so it's been a LOT easier to track!

And I want to do a DIY update blog post, and start drafting one for the end of uber frugal January as I shouldn't need to spend anything else now after the food (and maybe DIY stuff which I'm not counting in this anyway).

Oh, and want to mess about with sw@gbucks - i'm about 220SBs off my next voucher and I've promised myself when i get that I can order my new overalls as I'll have vouchers to cover half the cost so they'll omly cost me £10 :rotfl: ideally i'd wait til I had the full amount but that'll take me another month and I can't wait that long as existing ones (which are a disposable 'scene of crime' suit  ) have got many holes in - tjus endangering clothes underneath... they have lasted years though! :money:

Right, none of this is going to happen if I don't get out of bed! :j

How are you doing so far?

    :D:j:eek::rotfl: I don't know which is most relevant :o

Getting there! :D I think all of those are appropriate :rotfl: got the roller out, stuck it on a pole and have paibted the ceiling :j just a two foot mini strip that I need to shift the table for - about to do that now.

Have also put some bread on, played around on sw@gbucks (nothing much doing today, and I signed up for a couple of thigs that haven't registered  ). Oh, and I ordered my overalls :D I'll take me at least a week to get enough SBs for a voucher at this rate and I ripped another hole in mine this morning so I ordered anyway and will get SB payout in cash instead. Should be here between Tues and Fri :j :j

    So some progress...

Just going to paint that mini strip, then get the soup on (bread will be ready at 1pm) then after lunch ceiling should be dry enough for me to start on second coat :j

If there's time I also want to paint the patch on the bedroom that got covered in brown varnish in the ladder breaking incident...

Right, best get back on the case :D

    Right.

    Ceiling finished :j

    Soup bubbling away :j

Bread ready in 5 mins :j

Banks/YNAB done - misplaced/misrecorded £8  But for some bizarre reason the 'budget fiddling' category actually had money *in* it :rotfl: so not a crisis :rotfl:

Also finalised next month's budget and put £1200 into the house fund     Theoretically I'd normally be able to put £800 (which will pretty much be the mortgage payment when we get one) - although I've only managed that 5 months out of the last 12 :o

Added to that is £150 from 3 months of water bills that I'd been putting aside, forgetting they didn't charge over the winter

And, it appears, £250 I have saved through Uber Frugal January that I would normally have just frittered on takeaways, taxis, cafe trips, not meal planning, food for work etc etc etc

Needless to say, we will be continuing many of our newly reinstated thrifty ways into February

    Signature updated :j :j

    Right - lunch :D

Best of all - £250! That's a lot of money - sometimes it would be important to spend that, a taxi for safety late at night, that sort of thing - but still, wow!

Can't cook in my kitchen at the mo - defrosting the fridge freezer, eggshells being made ready for the garden in the halogen, my computer is on the table - I think I've got room to use the kettle :rotfl:

    Enjoy your victory lunch :j

Thanks :j Soup still isn't ready but I had home made bread and home made damson jam so all good :D :j :j

Er, cupasoup for lunch for you then?! :rotfl:

My taxis in the past have often been because I was running late, rather than because it was unsafe :o :rotfl: If I go out at night I'm usually in the car, or if I'm in town the buses run til gone midnight anyway. But having my bike at work has helped a lot with the taxi thing :j and now I'm vowing only to get them when I know work will pay :D

I did still spend *some* things - will do a run down on Wednesday when we get to the new month :j Be interesting to see how easy it is to carry into Feb too...

Meal plan done, shopping list written, crack in ceiling filled *again* where it was still showing through the paint...

Can't do second coat of paint til filler's dried... so might shift a few things and put some undercoat on the tiles in the alcove - not sure what colour they're going yet but they're definitely not staying black!
  • Cheery, Swagbucks very slow today with quite a high target for a Sunday, if you have hit your first target on some days this month you will get a bonus at the end of the month which you can claim in the first days of February. That might help. I managed to meet target 21 days in a row so that will bring a winning streaks bonus of 200 SB too and as I joined the Swag slopes team competition I get a 20 SB rebate on my next gift card, it's all the little things that add up, hope you are finding it better than you were.

Thanks TDQ :) Nice to see you :) I got bonus points for a run of 7 days in December :j but this month I got bored of it and so haven't managed several in a row, although when I do it, I do try to complete the 'to do list' and the target points which gets a few extra :) 200 extra is great, well done! :j

Painting painting painting painting painting etc

Hmm, well the day got rather derailed, ended up doing the shopping in T3sco instead of @ldi (shocked at how much dearer some things were!) Only had 20 mins before closing so dashed round but annoyingly couldn't find eggs or lentils quickly enough. £21 spent, and mr cheery spent £6 on teabags and porridge the other day. Will add up on Tuesday.

Haven't made snacks for work but because of palaver of afternoon i bought a packet of value biscuits to take to friend's house, but he wasn't in so will just parcel up for work instead.

Not got energy for anything other than lying on sofa now :o
