Plans slightly derailed when the ladders Mr Cheery was standing on SNAPPED and Mr Cheery AND A TUB OF DARK BROWN VARNISH went splattering across the bedroom - new carpet, new (to us) chaise lounge (or however you spell it), newly painted wall

Mr Cheery is fine (a bit startled!), ladders (belonging to a friend - we were taking them back tonight...) ruined, carpet rescued (thank goodness!), chaise lounge possibly rescued (still quite wet), wall (ignored in favour of carpet etc) needs repainting - and we don't have any more of that paint (which was ancient, and from the cellar). Fortunately that was a 'feature wall' so I might just do it the same colour as the rest of the room...

Good grief, what a fiasco!

Could have been a whole lot worse... We'd been contemplating buying our own ladders but now we'll have to replace friend's ladders so perhaps not! :rotfl:
  • Good grief!

Well, happy to chuck up a dollop of gratefulness to whomever and wherever that MrCheery is AOK after that incident, but

 indeed Greying! Fortunately he was just standing square on the ladder, near the bottom, so no harm done (to him at least :rotfl: ) Could have been an awful lot worse!

Just popping back with an update :D Clearly I didn't get everything done :o but I'm blaming The Incident, not my own slackness :o :rotfl:
    HOUSE
    * [STRIKE]weekly home blessing (including changing sheets)[/STRIKE] if you don't know what that involves, in my case tonight it was hoover kitchen, bathroom, stairs, bedroom, change sheets (a complete fiasco in this house as you have to sit ON the bed while you do it), cleaned bathroom, wiped all mirrors, emptied all bins, mopped kitchen floor
    * [STRIKE]wipe stove top and kitchen cupboards (trying to keep up with Flylady, AGAIN :rotfl: )[/STRIKE]
    * FINALLY took Christmas tree down this morning :o :rotfl: Need to put the damn thing in the cellar out of the way!
*[STRIKE] put shelves back up in kitchen[/STRIKE] - will free up living room floor :j well I put *one* set of shelves up, but not those ones :rotfl: Involved me cleaning said shelves, which literally haven't been cleaned in the 27 years Mr Cheery has lived here  :o :rotfl:

    ONLINE
    * [STRIKE]banks/YNAB[/STRIKE]
    * blog postno, but I'm off to do that now

    OTHER
    * 10 mins kettlebells
    * yoga
    * nice bath :D

Can't really be arsed doing any more exercise after all that cleaning :o :rotfl: Going to curl up on the sofa and (maybe) write a blog post and ignore the Christmas tree that's still lying in the middle of the floor (surrounded by all the stuff off the shelves and the double bass case) :rotfl:

Feel like I achieved *something* even if it wasn't quite what I intended... :A

    Evening chums :hello:

Not much to report tonight. I have survived a week of work lunches without buying ANYTHING (other than a bag of satsumas - will make sure we get an extra one in with the shopping this week) :j

Frozen home made bread was fine, so I'm going to make another loaf tomorrow and slice it up for the freezer again :j Stops us eating it all too :D I'll also need to make a giant vat of soup to portion - and make sure I do slightly bigger portions this time as some of these were a bit meagre :o although I've not starved so perhaps they were just right :D

Took a bag of home made biscuits in on Monday and they lasted me til today :j Quite a miracle. Possibly only because they disintegrated on the journey in so I've mostly been sprinkling them into yogurt :D :rotfl: :rotfl: Wondering whether to do the same thing again this week, or experiment with something else. I have got rather a lot of that cocoa powder to use up, after all... :rotfl:

Mr Cheery has found my bike panniers :j SO excited. Will make cycling MUCH more comfortable :D Already packed them up for a trip across town in the morning :j

What else? Had an email to say my discount card has arrived, so I'll collect that on Wednesday when I'm in town anyway.

Oh, and do you remember that £40.07 that I misplaced?? I suspect I may have undone a few YNAB entries or something because my two cafe spends earlier in the month weren't registered, so they were part of that... Which means I've only lost about £32 - but clearly I've just spent it and not logged it. How vexing!

Nothing to report today really - we bought some wood stain this evening for £8.99 but that comes out of the house/DIY budget which is strictly outside Uber Frugal January boundaries :D :j

Feeling tired and rather grubby this evening, so think I might hop into a nice bath :D

Great for everything Bob! :D Enjoyed using them this morning - cycling up the hill was much more pleasant than with a rucksack :j

Spent the whole afternoon at a friend's house clearing out stuff we'd stored there that needs to go to the tip. Most strenuous and it's all in the car.

    Spends to declare

£1.15 reduced bakery mince pies and an iced bun for working party (helping friend clear his house)
£1.88 milk and biscuits for working party
    £1 milk for us

    That's it :j Not a bad bargain :D 7

Off out tonight to a friend's party, but we'll walk there and apparently there'll be food :D Might buy a couple of drinks but it's a community centre so it won't be expensive.

Nothing else to report I don't think! Got a day free of appointments tomorrow so I imagine we'll be doing more re-arranging of stuff. Also going to have to figure out what to do with the stuff we've been storing at friend's house til we move!

Remembered to take the pizza dough out of the freezer for tomorrow's tea :j

Right, a few more minutes of coziness under this blanket and then I must get up and put me party frock on!

    Thanks Bob :)

We had a lovely time, and the food was a curry, so it was a good job we hadn't gone out for a curry before :rotfl:

Another productive day here :j took a car full of stuff to the tip, and spent the rest of the day at friend's house sorting more stuff for the tip - there were three pairs of us there with cars so we were doing shifts :rotfl: most jolly.

Also sorted a big load of our own stuff that's stored there - we'll need to sort some kind of storage in the next few weeks  asking around for a garage or somethig - none of it's *valuable* as such but wants keeping. We'll see. Mr Cheery's on the case.

Been having a lie down watching a film for the laat couple of hours and now pizzas are in the oven :j

On my own for a bit tonight so need a vague plan...

    - banks/ynab
    - sand and undercoat rest of skirting board in kitchen
    - make vat of soup and freeze for work lunches
    - get bread mahine on for work lunches
    - kettlebells
    - sort clothes and stuff for tomorrow
    - make some kind of sweet stuff for work lunches

Think that's probably enough :j will do a proper plan once Ive had pizza :j

    Right - a plan :D

    7.30-8.15: cooking
    - make soup
    - make bread
    - make cake/biscuits

    8.15-9: DIY
    - undercoat rest of kitchen skirting boards
    - plaster hole in spare room (might have to wait til tomorrow)

    9-9.30: preparing for tomorrow
    - clothes
    - bag
    - find pedometer

    9.30-10: internet
    - blog post
    - podcasts onto mp3 player

Then curl up with hot water bottle :j

    Morning chums :hello:

Having a late and slightly fraught start to the morning (my own fault!) so just realigning myself by talking to you for a minute :D

    Spends to declare:

    Sat 14th
    - £12.60 for drinks at friend's party

    Sun 15th
    - nothing (I don't think! will check banks etc later...)

    Mon 16th
    - 50p biscuits for a meeting (couldn't bring myself to spend £2 at the train station so walked to supermarket :D )
    - spent a bit on travel but I'll get it back as work expenses so doesn't count :D

Uber Frugal January going well so far :j :j

Went to bed before 9pm last night so didn't do anything sensible like washing up, getting food ready for lunch today etc :o also Mr Cheery didn't go food shopping BUT I did manage to cobble us together a curry - in the olden days that's *exactly* the sort of day we would have had a takeaway, or at least a bought pizza :j :j So, progress :j :j

Hoping he'll go shopping today though else the meal plan will be all out of whack :o If he doesn't, I'll go myself when I get in.

No spends planned today. I've got soup and bread for lunch, and home made brownies and yogurt for snacks :D Will put a bit in the tea kitty at work. Only thing I'm missing is satsumas - might pop to the local shop at lunchtime as I know they do a bag for £1 which is actually cheaper than @ldi I think :money: But I will NOT buy anything else in there!

Other than that, nowt to report :j Feel a bit discombobulated after a couple of days of tiredness, yesterday in another city, and then being in bed for nearly 12 hours :o  :rotfl: But I'll be at work by 10 :o and hopefully the day will get more productive from there :rotfl:

    Back later :D
