Nope, Mr Cheery did indeed change his surname. They should have got rid of the old one entirely, but it seems they've still got it linked to the bank account (which I suspect was MY bank account anyway) - but since they wouldn't talk to me on the phone I couldn't check the account number, and he didn't think to. It'll turn up somewhere in the next couple of days I imagine!

£80 was over 3 months though so not toooo bad (in fact, probably less than I've spent on CAKE in 3 months :o :rotfl: )

Right, off to poke and prod pesky bank accounts, back in a tick...

Right, done some sweeping up in the bank accounts and all is well :j Thought they were looking a little bare when I peeked yesterday, but realised some things I'd paid for from the current account (garage stuff, and Mr Cheery's new laptop) should have come from the savings account, so all looking good again :j

Also got the £127 from scrapping the car yesterday, so that's gone into the long term savings fund :j Doesn't quite cover the garage payments... :rotfl: :rotfl: but on here I'm not counting what I take out, only what I put in... :p

Right, sun's come out so I'm off to get dressed then get some varnish to paint the front door - will have to paint inside too at some point as water has been coming through and it looks all stained  but priority is making it waterproof!

Sounds good, Cheery - those little steps add up on the DIY as well. Enjoy the sunshine - its finally breaking through the fog haze here, I'll be out there this afternoon :)

Oh Cheery - you have just reminded me of something that I saw today. A planter (maintained by the council) of spring flowers. Nothing spectacular as such (municipal planting), but out of about 5 dwarf tulips, they happened to be yellow with red 'blades', there was one, that must have been at the absolute peak of openness. It was neither to 'closed' nor to 'blousy' - and the patterns inside, along with the stamen etc, were absolutely symmetrical. I thought at the time I wish I had my phone/camera to have taken a pic, as it was just perfect.

Well done with your DIY - hope the combination of the warmth and the breeze mean your door is dry enough to close tonight......and to open again in the morning :D Do we need to have our ladders on standby to come and rescue you and Mr Cheery from the first floor window if things get 'sticky' :D

    Hi Cheery,

It sounds like you are achieving lots :T How is the door today? :)

Have you made any decision on the new car yet?

I too got some reduced priced flowers this week - beautiful and will last at least a week 55p well spent :D

Greying - my Mr always laughs at me taking photo's of things - i use my phone alot for this and it has a much better camera than my old one but i love coming across unexpected beauty :D

Cheery :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: to spending more on cake than the gym :)

Thank you, you lovely lot :)

Greying, your tulip sounds beautiful :) Mine are now drooping prettily over the sides of a bright yellow jug - they may not last more than a day or two, but I am very much enjoying looking at them while they're here! :j

You'll be pleased to hear the varnish dried perfectly, and I slapped a second coat on today, so that's all done now :j :j There's still some left, so I'll put a coat on the inside when I get chance :)

Also painted the stonework round the front door (which is actually the back door) - 2 coats - and slapped a coat on both the garden table and the tiny bit of painted fence while I was out there :j

While I was in a painting mood, I made a start on the back door (which is actually the front door) - an abominable mess of peeling paint and bare wood, makes me wince every time I come into the house! :o I've chipped off the peeling paint, slapped primer on the bare bits, and sanded the whole thing down ready for undercoating tomorrow :j :j :j

(except I realised I don't have any white spirit, and I can only find one paintbrush, so I'll have to go to the shop for one or the other before I can start - darn it!)

Not much in the way of personal spends today

49p book of pretty pictures of other people's houses :o I was so much enjoying looking in the shop, and kind of justified the £2.99 price as being cheaper than a magazine :D but it turned out to be in the sale anyway so a veritable bargain :j

£5 unopened charity shop gift set (body butter, sugar scrub and shower gel - not a complete bargain but a smell we both like very much!)

Er, that's it I think. Will try to make tomorrow a NSD! (I know I need white spirit - that can come from the 'house maintenance' budget :D )

DDFW - no decision about the car yet, I'm ignoring the whole thing until informed otherwise :D

    :o at cakes :o:D

I *love* taking photos, I do it all the time, of the garden and the sunshine and the house and my own fingernails and nice-cups-of-tea-in-cafes and bicycles and scenery and wildlife and books :D Cheerful and free! :money:

Oh, and I had to laugh at myself earlier - I'm trying to keep track of what I grow/harvest in the garden, and how much it would have cost me in the shops.

Yesterday I decided the cabbage and kale from last year had finally got big enough to justify eating a bit :o Dutifully weighed it and at it (very tasty)

    Equivalent shop cost?

    11p :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Not sure I'll be making my fortune out of the garden just yet :D

:j to all the varnishing, and :rotfl: to the price of the kale! But you have visual impact of all the garden work, and didn't you make something from the willows?

    Priceless :kisses3:
