Cheery's buttling diary: tea in one hand, plant pot in the other, running shoes on

How very rude of him to not tell you in the first place! I expect if this one turned round to me and said ' I didn't want it anyway' I might be, er, less than charitable
and explain that the consequences were he would be added to my List Of Enemies (which, bizarrely, includes a large number of roofers - what *is* it with those people??)
Er, must stick my head out of the window and check he hasn't actually fixed ithe did say we didn't need to be in when he did it - wouldn't it be awful if I got all cross and it'd already been done and he'd just not sent the bill yet??
:rotfl:
(ok, stuck my head out the window and there's still a hole - feel justified in ringing now :rotfl: )
In another life I might retrain as a roofer(although my uncle is one, miles away, and he once fell off a roof   so maybe I won't
:rotfl: )

Giggling here :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
How odd, when I can write "I'm glad the hole in your roof hasn't been fixed" on the whole, I'd rather not write that ... lets see .... I'm glad your determination to get your roof fixed is still necessary2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks
The hole isn't actually causing any trouble (that I can see  ) but there's a slate balanced precariously and a couple have already fallen off. And the chimney is leaning at a very precarious angle and I really don't want that to fall off!
The whole thing needs repointing again - we had it done last year and they seem to have used mostly sand, and water comes through the bedroom ceiling  Got someone else in to go over the worst bits, but they didn't fix it, AND charged me to come back and fix their mess  so it STILL needs doing again
(and I clearly need to go on an Assertiveness-With-Tradesmen course)
Anyway - rang roofer, spoke to his daughter and left a message asking if he still wanted to do it cos I'd been trying to collar him since January (I don't think she wrote that bit down :rotfl: ).
Also rang car insurance and cancelled :j :j £50 odd coming our way - although goodness knows what bank account they'll put it in - they're insisting they have Mr Cheery's old surname, but I can't believe we ever paid it out of his account, I'm pretty sure it was mine, so there might be another mess to sort out there, yawn.
Anyway, best crack on with some work!
Old flute teacher texted to say she has tickets for her theatre show - going to pick them up later so definitely not a NSD here!
Oh! And I added up what I've spent out of fun budget - £20.62 left for the whole of March... :rotfl: Hmm. Suspect I might not manage (although if I *do* decide to shuffle running stuff to £2 coin fund, that would free up another £51... will think on...)

Repointing! Thats what the builder I've just got is doing - the whole side wall of the house  about £1500  - he put his pen onto the mortar when he was inspecting the place first off, and his pen went right through, into the cavity!!! So yep, I have a tracery of damp on the inside that follows the brickwork, more or less - he rubbed it, in another place, and all this sand just flaked off - maybe it was done by the same guy! There's mould, and saggy plaster, and blown plaster on the inside - its not a pretty sight at the moment  The work's scheduled for April, it'll hopefully be drier then.
Work. Yes. Must. Work.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hmm (and I really WILL go and do something useful in a second, I promise!)
Just looking at the gym membership in my signature...
I paid £80 for 3 months - a bargain I thoughtBut (of course) I haven't gone to as many spin classes as I planned, or done as much swimming, partly because of the amount of work travel I've done.
Also, those things are only £3 or £4 a time, so pretty cheap anyway.
You can't get pay-as-you-go access to the treadmills at this gym (which is annoying), and I've enjoyed having them in the dark evenings. But I've just worked out it's costing me £8.57 each time I've been   which is rather expensive!
This membership runs til the end of March, but I'm away from next Saturday so I shall have to squeeze some more use of it this week, then assess whether I want to renew...
I might do this time - got a triathlon mid May so will need the swim practice... but it might be worth just paying to go swimming, especially now it's lighter and the weather's nicer!0 -
Oops, missed you there kc, got a phone call in the middle of that long rambly post :rotfl: Pah to nasty repointing experiences, and  to having the whole side of the house done!0

Goodness me, confessions galore this evening!
£2 parking in town
£4.80 library fine
£1.95 cuppa in cafe
£24 show tickets (but i think that's coming from joint treats fund)
then i was going to go to slimming world but had a cuppa with old flute teacher who somehow persuaded me to go to jive instead :rotfl: :rotfl
£7 jive
52p drink :rotfl:
then £4 cereal bars on the way home
gah!
might try for a NSD day tomorrow - i'm in dire need of one!!0 -
and i MUST take a good peek at those pesky misbehaving bank accounts tomorrow!:eek:0
-
And you've had such fun while you're at it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Gah! To roofers and general builders.
One thing though did I read that the insurance people had Mr Cheery's old surname? Or was that a misprint? I don't think I've come across a man who has changed his surname before.
£8odd does seem expensive but I think you will use it more with your triathlon looming.Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000
