Thanks ladies, it is indeed magnificent, I'm thrilled :j :j Patchwork fund will look VERY healthy next year!! :j :j

We went to a Sri Lanken curry place KC :j Neither of us had the head space to think and it was thali (sp?) night so we had that - right, popadum and chapati and a whole tray of small bits of different things, kind of like tapas but curry :D Something auberginey, a normal veg curry, lentil and spinah dal, something with green beans in. All different, all delicious, and we were completely stuffed :o rofl

Cheery though :j We don't go out for tea very often, but when we do, we go there :j

Been lots of cake in work today too - just been to slimming world and I've put back on the 2lbs I lost last week :rotfl: Hardly surprising given interview related stress/celebration but even so!! :rotfl:

Mmmm - that sounds like a really adventurous meal Cheery! How nice to be able to taste a bit of everything!

What is the spice level like in Sri Lankan food? Is there lots of chili & coconut?

I've only had it once a very long time ago & remember some kind of thick soft bread that tasted like coconut, a cone of red rice and something called kotu roti which was a bit like a bready omlette... obviously carbs made a big impact!:D

I'm not one for loads of heat and it was fine for me. Last time I did have a curry that actually had bits of chapati (or similar) actually cooked into it so probably yes with the carbs :rotfl:

This lot did catering for our friends wedding and we had huge fried rolled up crispy bread things (not a great explanation I know!) :rotfl:

Mr Cheery has been trying to convince me I need a proper big treat for buttling myself a new shiny job :D Best I can come up with is a posh new diary to start the new year with :rotfl:

Ooh, and stationery :D Of course we have lots, but I've packed it :D :rotfl: And yes, I could unpack it, and yes new job is likely to have a stationery cupboard :rotfl: But a new job at least feels like it needs a cheery new notebook, yes?! :j :j

Ooh, and I don't know whether I said but I'll be enrolled on a year long course when I start. Quite excited about this - I LOVE studying, and this will actually help me do the job better :j So obviously I'll need stationery for that too :D :j Classes are in work time but I think there'll be a fair bit of coursework too that I'll try to sneak into work hours but which might spill over a bit.

So yes, stationery as a treat, and possibly a nice posh pair knee high boots - mine were £25 off the market and while they're ok and relatively comfy, they're not hugely glamourous and I did have to glue the soles back on recently :rotfl:

What else? I'm good at frittering small bits of money on cakes but not very good when it comes to spending proper money on treats :rotfl: Probably a good thing in the long run I think!! :rotfl:

    Any suggestions?? :D

Of course I've been playing with the MSE mortgahe calculator and if we choose to it looks like we could up our potential house price range by quite a bit... Not sure we'll go down that route but it might open up new areas of current cit and mean we could potentially get the type of house we want without having to move an hours drive away... :j

    But we'll see...
  • A nice new notebook and a pair of lovely boots sounds ace.

    They get my vote.

What about a cheerful treaty weekend away somewhere you love?
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
    :money:Sleeves up folks.:money:

    Ooh, that's a good idea Pippi! :j :j :j What a fab idea :j

Was just thinking about travelling actually - got a list of about 5 sets of people I keep promising to go and see and not quite getting round to - I don't have any more holidays now til Christmas (saving them so I can be paid for having Christmas off :D ) but I should probably see if I can get a few trips in before I lose my Fridays off!

Some of them involve flights  Not flown for about 10 years and passport doesn't work any more  :o :rotfl:

Just been out for a run :D Half marathon in 4 weeks and apparently I've run 5 miles in October so far :o Best pull my finger out else it's going to be painful...

NSD on the cards today, hopefully! :money:

    Evening chums :hello:

Head swimming a bit this evening :o Finally came down to earth with a bit of a bump at work today, realising I've got a project report thingy due in a fortnight and, while I thought I'd been doing little bits here and there over the last few weeks, clearly I haven't and it needs a LOT of work

Still, a fortnight is a long time (she says...)

But it's the weekend now :D so I'm turning my attention to non-work things I haven't done instead :p :rotfl:

One thing I DID do was book a smear test, saw the nurse, and picked up two lots of repeat prescriptions from the chemist :j Very productive :D Have also put date in diary for blood test before next lot run out :D

NSD - added to signature (I don't pay for prescriptions)

Er, what else? Diploma been dreadfully abandoned  so done a couple of hours of emails, blog post (not finished) and plotting this evening :j Feeling slightly better about the whole thing, although still work to do! Plus side of this is - no deadline :D :rotfl: Good job really!

After Christmas I'll have another qualification to study for (because I don't have enough of those :rotfl: ) so not sure what's going to happen in terms of time etc... Will have to wait and see.

Mortgage advisor at the bank emailed (I went to see her months ago when we started thinking about moving, and she periodically emails to see if we're any closer :rotfl: Almost feel I'm letting her down saying no!) Informed her of my new salary and asked her to do a calculation of how much we could have :D Checked Martin's calculator but nice to have a more definite estimate.

Bleurgh. Head fried. Meant to be visiting friend tomorrow but she just sent ambiguous text, and hasn't replied to my clarifying one. Also meant to be running 8 miles  Half marathon in 4 weeks!!

So yes, head all over the place, house a tip, boxes everywhere, not been in the garden for weeks, only ran 5 miles so far in October, put back on the 2lbs I lost at slimming world last week :o

So yeah, business as usual here :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Morning Cheery my dear!

    ..and breathe...

One thing at a time & it will all get done!

Perhaps a listy-pops a la Pips might get it down in one place & free up some brain space???

    :D

Indeed RT :D I do in fact have a master list, don't worry :D

Mind you, I've not done a single thing off it today :o :rotfl: Ambled over and spent the morning with a friend, a cuppa with another pal, and been wandering round town spending money :o Oh dear!!

    Not tooooo bad :o

Black cord trousers, reduced to £16 (in my defence, I only have two paurs of trousers Ican fit into, and they're both jeans... :o )

2 pairs leggings - both of my existing pairs ripped too many times to repair now :o £8 for the two

And my new job treat :D 2 balls of extremely soft alpaca wool to knit myself a new shawl with :D :rotfl: £15 - splashing out!!

And £2.50 on 2lbs of plums and 2 punnets of strawberries, which I thought was a bargain :D

Oh, and a spices top up at the asian supermarket - £4.62 for 5 big bags of spices and soy sauce :money:

So not dead extravagant really, except the trousers and the wool... :o but more than I'd generally spend in a day!!
